Illegal immigrants, as well as legal immigrants in the country less than five years, are not eligible for free healthcare through Medicaid. A 2007 study estimated that less than 1 percent of Medicaid spending went to healthcare for illegal immigrants. Proponents of subsidized healthcare for immigrants argue that increased access to basic preventive care will lower the demand for costly emergency care. Opponents argue that immigrants in the healthcare system run the risk of becoming "permanent patients," because they have no relatives, insurance or an established address where they can go once released.

Yes, but only for children, life-threatning, non-wealthy people, infectious diseases, and injuries. Also depends on the persons background.
@B45JDYW2mos2MO
I believe all minors regardless of immigration status should receive government-subsidized healthcare. As for their parents, they should have access to healthcare but cannot enjoy any privileges beyond these basic rights.
@B3TG6BK2mos2MO
Immigrants that have supported this country in the past should be given help but for the ones that just take and don't give then no. Also you should prove citizenship if you can but if not also show that you care for the country and have payed taxes or have worked in the U.S.
@B2WHJ873mos3MO
I think any illegal immigrants shouldn't have access to government programs or contribute any taxes or anything. They are not U.S. citizens and therefore should not have the benefits or the disadvantages of being a citizen. Also, a lot of people have been waiting in line for many years to get a chance to move to the U.S. as a legal immigrant, so its not fair that
@9WQ3BBD7mos7MO
If they are active and being good citizens then they should have the opportunity to as well as be able to legally be able to get a green card because without immigrants the united states would've never became a country.
They should have access to the basic medical needs and should not be denied their basic rights. They should be set up to get a visa or other legal way to work/live in the country
@9V6PQR6Libertarian8mos8MO
There are many good illegal immigrants in our country; nevertheless, if they aren't paying taxes... I believe they shouldn't get healthcare. You are giving money, to them, rather than the homeless and veterans on the street.
Yes, but with restrictions in place to ensure the new system cannot be abused by "permanent patients"
@9TJHTCH8mos8MO
ultimately the decision on this issue involves balancing ethical considerations, public health, and economic factors. its complex issue with no easy answer.
@9T9P9X78mos8MO
Yes, but give them a fair job so that they can be treated but they must earn the amount of money they owe.
@9STD4849mos9MO
This is a difficult question because there is an economic and humanitarian perspective of this. Every human deserves a right to healthcare. However, for the tax-paying citizens, they should get priority. In addition, I do think undocumented immigrants should get access to healthcare as they probably are not in the circumstances to pay in the first place and deserve treatment. I do think the government needs to allocate more resources for healthcare and humanitarian purposes rather than pouring money into the military; we should improve our own country first.
@9SNTF8W9mos9MO
Yes, if they pay taxes they should have full access. Emergencies and infectious disease should be treated regardless of citizenship status.
@9SB656N9mos9MO
Yes, but they should be given a period of time to leave the country before being deported unless they can obtain the necessary requirements in order to become a legal resident of the country.
Yes, if they are at a life risk where its either do or die, then I agree(Note, they should be paying taxes tho).
@9DSJBYL2yrs2Y
Yes if they take the test to become US citizens
@9DQMC9M2yrs2Y
Yes, as long as that immigrant hasn't done anything bad or illegal.
Yes, and help them work to citizenship
As illegal immigrants, they are not a part of the US government, therefore they should not have access to government sources. However, in such a great, amazing, wonderful country it should not be a problem, anyway. There should be alternative and affordable options, even for illegal immigrants. They may be illegal immigrants in this country, but they are not illegal immigrants on earth.
@99ZTHWY2yrs2Y
I feel I am not knowledgeable enough about this subject to comment. In states of emergency, I feel it is only humane to allow healthcare, but there may be documentation and legal issues.
@8ZKKDT43yrs3Y
Yes, but should have to pay for treatment
@8YPGZ6S3yrs3Y
Yes and No, we want them to be safe if they are truly in need. But if they have any criminal record they should not.
@8XKSBYS3yrs3Y
No, but they should be allowed to purchase it and their children should have access
No, but make citizenship easier to obtain for non criminals.
@8V8KJGC4yrs4Y
Yes, but also make sure they become a citizen before they abuse it. This healthcare should be for US citizens, or ones that are transitioning usch as illegal immigrants.
@8TV42CR4yrs4Y
I believe that the subsidizing of health care should be prioritized for American citizens and then illegal immigrants.
@8SJDZW54yrs4Y
no they deserve better. we all do
@8RRH7L7Independent4yrs4Y
Illegal immigrants should be given proper care in the US but should not be allowed continued care for long term as they are not citizens.
No, but they should be given resources to become citizens and then receive government-subsidized healthcare.
@8R97VZS4yrs4Y
No since it wouldn't keep equity between the legal immigrants
@8R8Y4JBWomen’s Equality4yrs4Y
yes, but they should be deported after treatment as long as if it's safe for them to do so.
@8PM2CWH4yrs4Y
No, the government is already spending way too much money subsidizing healthcare.
@8PDXX8S4yrs4Y
yes, if they are in good standing with the government and pay taxes
@8LLXZ9T5yrs5Y
There should be a process to this. The healthcare system is broken and no one should be turned away. So illegal or not, the problem is with our healthcare system.
@8K5RW2S5yrs5Y
Yes but only for life-threatening emergencies and for their children but I also think if they are staying here they should be paying taxes as well.
Yes, until the process of becoming legal is easier.
@8HN6G245yrs5Y
yes if they don't have any bad intentions
@8DYS7YY5yrs5Y
Yes, if they pay taxes. Additionally, assist them into becoming US citizens.
@8DL5WPJIndependent5yrs5Y
No, it should however be easier to be a legal U.S citizen.
@8D89LK6Republican5yrs5Y
If They Are The Needy And Can Hell The Country
@8CYXQ475yrs5Y
Yes, and they should not be called illegal immigrants. People are not illegal.
@8CLQ5NM5yrs5Y
No, illegal residents incentives should be eliminated in two ways: 1) all employment opportunities should be removed by SEVERELY penalizing businesses that exploit low-wage earners by employing illegal aliens, 2) illegal aliens should not receive health benefit incentives.
@8C8J6YR5yrs5Y
yes, generally hold back beniftis in a more humane way to encourage tax paying, becoming a ciziten, ie social security, ubi
Illegals who are present for a long term deserve permanent residency and access to healthcare exclude newly arrived illegals.
@8MRHDFH5yrs5Y
Yes, if they are good people. Horrible criminals should not be entitled to ANY special treatment and be immediately deported and dealt with after treatment.
@8MKXX5Z5yrs5Y
Yes, as long they have good background and they have been checked for safety.
@8HYGK93Libertarian5yrs5Y
yes, if they haven't had any criminal activity in their records.
@8GD3WXZ5yrs5Y
Only if they are willing to become U.S. Citizens.
@8GCGYDF5yrs5Y
Yes if they are are honest, hard working, and are trying to become citizens. Their children should have access as well. I am however torn on this question because f they aren't paying for the healthcare they shouldn't get access. However they are people and it would be human decency to help those in need.
@8DYR8JV5yrs5Y
Yes, All of the above to people that wrote yes previously
Maybe, it depends on the situation in 2023.
