The "right to die" issue really troubles me. I'm afraid if we keep insisting on our right to die, the insurance companies are going to start denying care to chronically and terminally ill parients (who want and and need medical care) based on the enormous costs involved. I foresee a day in the not so distant future where we will be fighting for our "right to live." There will come a day when so-called "Death Panels" decide whether or not we should live or die based on the economic factors involved. This is a very slippery slope.

This is an interesting take that I’ve never thought about before. If we live in a perfect world where insurance companies put people’s health and wellbeing ahead of profits, what would your stance be then?

No, they should let the natural recourse of life take them. However, they should try by all means to stay alive.

Yes, but only if they are close to death or can no longer function and there is less than 15% chance or no chance of survival

 @8Y9ZXLM from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if enduring the illness is more painful than medications and life support can handle/provide

I think they should be able to but they have to be able to make that choice and understand fully what they would be doing and only if there outcome doesn't look good for them because they cant survive there illness.

 @8QZR8LQ from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, as long as this is truly what they want and if they understand this choice

Yes, but only in cases of a terminal diagnosis, or a diagnosis that will have a severe negative impact on the patient's quality of life, and only after a full psychological evaluation to ensure they are mentally and emotionally competent to fully understand their choice and to make that decision.

 @8HY44DW from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

is not good to take your life but if you are and that much pain then you can but you can still live just to see tomorrow.

 @97WG3HQ from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, so long as they are an adult, have undergone a psychological evaluation to show they fully understand their choice, and they have the approval of immediate family members and spouse

 @8NMZKFZ from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

As long as they are terminally ill, and pass a mental health check that states they are of sound mind.

 @NotShaggy3 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only if they go through a psychological examination to show they fully understand the choice.
