In 2014 the U.S. Senate blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act which would make it illegal for employers to pay unequal wages to men and women who perform the same work. The goals of the act were to make wages more transparent, require employers to prove that wage discrepancies are tied to legitimate business qualifications and not gender and prohibiting companies from taking retaliatory action against employees who raise concerns about gender-based wage discrimination. Opponents argue that studies which show pay gaps don’t take into account women who take jobs that are more family-friendl…

Their gender should have no influence or relevance towards employee salary and should be determined rather by their performance and quality of work.
They already do pay the same amount for the same job, if women got paid less then why don't companies hire more women to save more money.
Only if employees have the same variables of education, experience, work ethic, and tenure should the salary be the same. Otherwise it should solely be based on the aforementioned variables. Gender should not be a factor in salary.

I believe everyone should be paid based on the relevance, importance, and difficult the job is. Furthermore, they should be paid based on how well they do their job.
@9H2VDPSProgressive2yrs2Y
It is illegal to pay less based on gender. Men do more high paying jobs than women and possibly have a higher level of education. you should be paid for you're worth and how hard you work

The salary an average person earns should not depend on whether you're a man or a woman It should be based on work ethic, education, experience, and determination for their job.
Only if both the workers work and do a good of a job
@9F7SWMQ2yrs2Y
pay should be based on your work and how well you do it
@94WST3Q3yrs3Y
i feel like wage should be determined by the amount of work completed, your efficiently rather than by the position you hold.
@93SLWL43yrs3Y
If the woman is better at the job, pay her more
@937LSDH3yrs3Y
Yes, but ultimately it depends on the performance of the job.
@92NFGMB3yrs3Y
They already are, it is illegal for employers to discriminate against people based on race, sex, or gender
@8YPDTD93yrs3Y
I don't think men and women should have the same salary, in terms of gender pros and cons in society i think that as long as men can't hit women, women can't be paid as much as men it's a win win for both sexes to me.
@8M9GQMM5yrs5Y
relative to work experience and skill of each employee, yes. companies should be more transparent with unions about what they pay their employees to minimize the potential for bias and let pay truly be a marker of merit and experience.
@9CW6KLL2yrs2Y
no, it should be based on skills
yes, if the woman is equally educated, has an equal amount of experience, and has an equal tenure then she should be paid equally. if a woman is higher in all of those she should be payed more and vice versa for men.
@8VZYDDP4yrs4Y
Pay should be determined by the amount of work you do and how long you have been with the company. If someone does no work but has the same title of the most hard working employee I do not think they should get paid the same
@8VL9DP44yrs4Y
If a man and woman have the same job, the only thing that should create a wage gap is if one has more experience in the job, or job area, than the other.
