In 2014 the U.S. Senate blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act which would make it illegal for employers to pay unequal wages to men and women who perform the same work. The goals of the act were to make wages more transparent, require employers to prove that wage discrepancies are tied to legitimate business qualifications and not gender and prohibiting companies from taking retaliatory action against employees who raise concerns about gender-based wage discrimination. Opponents argue that studies which show pay gaps don’t take into account women who take jobs that are more family-friendl…

Yes, but if the person is better at what they do then they should be paid for their work even if it happens to be more.
@B4Q9C9ZLibertarian3mos3MO
No, although I think employers should be required to pay men and woman the same salary for the same job, factors such as education, experience, and tenure should primarily determine a fair salary
@9K9L9QY1yr1Y
It should be dependent on the hours and what kind of job is being worked for the salary. They should be similar but fair.
@9JCHQ7W1yr1Y
Yes, but there should be a default starting salary, after which other factors such as education and experience can be factored in.
@9J6NGKPRepublican1yr1Y
Yes they should as long as the women are working the same amount of hours and doing the same exact thing
@9HY3H841yr1Y
I obviously want women and men to earn the same amount of money for performing the same tasks, but I’m unconvinced other factors don’t play into statistics purporting that women earn less (e.g., maternity leave potentially can account for differences in yearly earnings between men and women).
Men and women who have the 'same' credentials should be expected to be payed the same amount with changes only being made based on work productivity and professional presentation (behavior and communication).
@9FP2MBP2yrs2Y
yes as long as equal amount of work is being accomplished by both men and women
@9FCBMMB2yrs2Y
this could go both ways and should be based on education and experience
@9BYWCLK2yrs2Y
yes and no you should be paid on based on your position so if you are a woman and are higher up in a company than a man she should be getting paid more
@936H6GC3yrs3Y
depends on what job because women would be a good athlete
@92Z4DJF3yrs3Y
Yes, if they have the same job the income should not be different
@8YB3X9T3yrs3Y
Regardless, it should be dependent on education and experience, not by gender.
No, the government should never determine what a private business should pay employees & there are too many other variables such as education, experience, and tenure that determine a fair salary & this is irrelevant because the gender wage gap is a myth.
@8XB4KTQ4yrs4Y
depending how much they do
@8V2H6LN4yrs4Y
No, a person should be paid by how hard they try and well they do.
@8QDYG6T4yrs4Y
Yes as long as they are both as qualified
@8MQ3ZPC5yrs5Y
everyone should be payed the same
@8LSTXQ95yrs5Y
Women should be incentivized to not work at all and instead focus on their families and community
@8DGLBDG5yrs5Y
Yes, but if there are physical requirements or differences on the job then a salary adjustment may be warranted
@9BHLHP42yrs2Y
yes, but for certain labor jobs like in the oil industry, Men are the vast majority of workers.
@9B5PGMY2yrs2Y
Whoever does a better job should make more money
@98578BL3yrs3Y
It doesn’t matter, male or female they should get their wages, based on their hard work
@983X4JY3yrs3Y
EMployers should pay purely on performance.
More pay should be given to the person that is working harder.
@9836KSS3yrs3Y
If both man and woman have same work experience and similar resumes they should get paid the same.
@982NF9J3yrs3Y
pay should result soley on performance in the work place
@92QZSSBRepublican3yrs3Y
if a man and woman are in the same position and have the same experience, education, and tenure then they should have the exact same salary to the last penny. If either one has more experience, education etc, then pay on that
@8GRG2225yrs5Y
Depending on the role, but a different sex should not dictate how much you are getting paid, so No.
