It's okay to have your own opinions on this topic, but it's wrong to force these ideals and/or beliefs onto others, which can do more harm than the harm you think not doing so will cause.

In the United States, the Constitution protects both religious freedom and individual rights. Religious groups are free to define marriage according to their beliefs, but the government cannot impose those beliefs on everyone. Civil marriage is a legal institution, and under the Fourteenth Amendment, it must be applied equally to all citizens.

There should be a separation between church and state. There was always supposed to be, and just because your beliefs do not align with what other people choose to do, does not mean you have any say over their decisions.

Not everyone believes in God, or commits to the traditional ways of teaching or practicing religion. Gay marriage shouldn't have any harm on anyone, strangers, family members, even their own lovers, aside from what they believe. What matters is who that person is and what they do, not what gender they are or what gender(s) they're attracted to.

Not everyone has to succumb to other people's religious beliefs. If you don't like/approve of gay marriage, you don't have to be in a gay marriage. What others do shouldn't affect your life or beliefs. God never explicitly says gay marriage is wrong, and it is never mentioned in the Bible. If God is a "loving father who cares for his children," then he loves unconditionally, despite people's relationship habits and sexuality. Not everything outside of God's principles is a sin. The idea of gay marriage being a sin in Christianity is built off of Christi…  Read more

Your religion shall have no bearing on anything that is involved in my life. Just as someone on a diet has no right to force you to diet as well, this applies to religion.

Separation of church and states, the U.S. is not allowed to establish a religion so why should the bible have influence over the law.

In the bible, god created women and men not otherwise. We were made in the image of the lord not otherwise. I do not support.

Although he created marriage between a man and a woman, that doesn't mean it is not allowed to love outside of a man and a woman. It is never stated outright that people can only marry between men and women. God shows his love to all his subjects, and he sees all as equal

Religion should remain out of politics, not only this, we ourselves can be a good human, to be accepting of one another, how does a gay marriage effect you personally? Is another person displaying their love and appreciation for another of the same sex so wrong?

 @BCXCZZB from Iowa  agreed…2 days2D

No

In the Bible it says in Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." which means is very frowned upon to be gay. I'm not saying they are bad people and I'm not gonna think any different of them but in Jesus's eyes people should not be gay or marry other gay people.

 @BCXFLXD from Louisiana  agreed…2 days2D

I agree with this message because marriage is about God and being together for life but its a sin for the same gender people getting married so according to the bible its considered unholy.

Technically where in the Bible does it say being gay is a sin. Point to the verses and show me him directly saying being gay is a sin. People show be able to love how they want to as long as it is consensual and of age and it's none of your business to know what people it's their life not yours.

 @BCY5TN7Libertarian from West Virginia  disagreed…16hrs16H

God didn't necessarily create marriage, but he created love. Marriage was created by man, after whom we named the holiday Valentine's Day.

Plus, even if allowing Gay Marriage is "harming" the individuals who choose it, it's their choice. Despite all warnings, if they continue to love who they want, then who are we to constantly scold them as if they know no better? Plus, it's within our First Amendment to be able to have free speech and free religious beliefs, and you can not force what you believe on others.

The bible is the work of man so it is flawed. Especially considering the church’s history of using religion to harm others. God is a created all of us in his image but also gave us free will to do what we want. As long as no one his harmed I don’t see a reason why not.

America is a country that allows freedom of religion, the religious beliefs of one should not influence the actions of others.

 @BCVXQMB from Pennsylvania  agreed…5 days5D

Gay marriage is not right, there is no reproduction and marriage was not like this in the past. It is only becoming more popular because people are regularizing it.
