Carla Hayden was a trailblazer and did so much to make the Library of Congress more accessible and representative of America’s diversity. Firing her like this, by email of all things, just reeks of political retaliation and disrespect for public service. It’s another example of Trump undermining nonpartisan institutions just to push his own agenda. We need leaders who value inclusion and expertise, not ones who tear down historic progress for petty political points.
