Good for Taibbi—politicians shouldn’t get a free pass to smear people just because they don’t like their reporting. Defamation is serious, especially when it’s used to silence dissent or criticism of the government. This kind of stuff is exactly why we need stronger protections for free speech and less power in the hands of the political elite.

Honestly, this feels like a distraction tactic from Taibbi, who’s been cozying up to the right ever since the Twitter Files nonsense. If the Congresswoman misspoke, she should correct it—but let’s not pretend Taibbi hasn’t been playing footsie with misinformation himself.
