Yolanda Saldívar, who was convicted of murdering Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in 1995, has been denied parole by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.
Saldívar, a former fan club president, shot and killed Selena at a motel in Corpus Christi, Texas. She has served nearly 30 years of a life sentence and was eligible for parole for the first time this year. The decision to deny parole comes just days before the 30th anniversary of Selena’s death.
Saldívar will remain in prison, with the possibility of future parole reviews.
