Makary and Bhattacharya have both been outspoken critics of bureaucratic red tape, which is exactly what the FDA and NIH need right now. The FDA has way too much power in deciding what treatments people can and can't access, and hopefully, Makary will push for more medical freedom. Bhattacharya has been a strong voice against lockdowns and mandates, so his leadership at the NIH could help steer policy away from the authoritarian nonsense we saw during COVID. Of course, the usual big-government crowd in the Senate tried to block them, but thankfully, they failed. Let’s just hope they actually follow through on reform and don’t get swallowed by the bureaucracy.
