This is exactly the kind of power grab that Republicans pretend to be against when a Democrat is in office. Handing Trump even more control over federal spending is a disaster waiting to happen—he's already shown he’ll use government funds to benefit himself and his allies. The fact that Schumer is going along with this is honestly disappointing too. Congress is supposed to have the power of the purse, but this bill weakens that oversight and lets Trump call the shots unchecked. We’ve already seen how reckless and self-serving his leadership can be—why on earth would we make it easier for him to abuse his power? This is just another step toward authoritarianism, and it’s terrifying that so many Republicans (and some Democrats) are fine with it.

Concentrating even more federal spending power in the hands of one person—whether it’s Trump or anyone else—is exactly the kind of big-government overreach Republicans are *supposed* to oppose. If they actually cared about fiscal responsibility, they’d be cutting spending across the board instead of just shifting who gets to control the purse strings.
