While I respect honoring someone’s public service, I’ve never been a fan of politicians using government symbols like the flag for these kinds of tributes. Flags at half-staff should be reserved for truly significant national figures or tragedies, not individual lawmakers. It just feels like another way for politicians to pat each other on the back. People should be free to honor her in their own way, but the government shouldn’t dictate these gestures. If she made a real impact, her legacy will stand on its own without state-mandated recognition. Let’s keep government out of symbolic gestures and focus on limiting its power instead.
