Yoon proclaims that he will "eradicate" and "crush" his opposition, whom he describes as "shameless pro-North Korean anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people"

It seems like Yoon was having some political problems, and decided he would seize dictatorial power to solve those problems -- claiming, as would be expected, a "national security" pretext

It's more complicated than that. Korean Dems have been Epstein'd by the CCP and NK who rig our elections and systems alike. SK Dem leader was just convicted so they're now changing the law. That's all they do: Change laws to shield their own crimes while paralyzing the gov.

Seems North Korea is a desperately poor country where everybody eats dogs to survive and simultaneously sends millions of munitions and 10s of 1000s of soldiers to Kursk and activates an insurgency in the south. Glad we have a journalist class to get to the bottom of all this.

It seems like Yoon is just following his masters orders, like Zelenskyy did

 @8FCKLPYGreen from California  agreed…1mo1MO

Well this just seems to reveal the veneer of a fascist society all along. Maybe the USA should drop the illusion too. Would more people wake up?

What do you mean that the USA is a fascist society? We are the greatest country in the world, especially after Trump Makes America Great Again.

So who do Blinken, Sullivan, and Nuland support here? So I can cheer for the opposite side.

 @LeftLaneBobDemocrat from Texas  commented…1mo1MO

No, Mr. Yoon, the legislature doing something you don't like doesn't mean you get to be a dictator. Did nobody ever tell this guy how democracy or laws work?

CNN says the chaos in South Korea reminds them of Donald Trump, suggests Trump's return to Washington might look like this.

"Donald Trump is about to be president. Somebody who has said he wants to use the military to go after his own enemies."

"The parallels to January 6th, just the image of a democracy facing this kind of crisis."

"I think this is something that people are scared about or that sort of Democrats are scared about when they think about Trump's return."

"He's encouraged the use of force to achieve political goals."

The TDS is off the charts with these people.

Seriously time to consider having psyche evals ordered before they hurt themselves or others.

 @7JQ4R29National Conservatism from Pennsylvania  agreed…1mo1MO

The fact that leftists are commenting like this means they're projecting. This is in fact what they want to have happen in January. Otherwise, how are they ever going to stop Hitler from gaining power?

I'm no expert in South Korean martial law procedure, but it seems that the National Assembly voting to overturn martial law could just be declared null and void by President Yoon, since he had already issued a decree prohibiting any activity by the National Assembly

 @ThrusheKayleeRepublicanfrom Wisconsin  agreed…1mo1MO

The South Korean constitution says the president "shall comply" when the National Assembly requests by majority vote to lift martial law. However, Yoon's decree prohibited any activity of the National Assembly -- a power which seems to be beyond what the constitution prescribes

White House NSC spokesperson tells me: "The U.S. was not notified in advance of this announcement by the president of South Korea. We are seriously concerned by the developments we are seeing on the ground in the country"

NATO/Us support a divided korea

 @5HJKSR4Right-Wing Populismfrom California  commented…1mo1MO

The US state department taught him well.

Your ideas can’t compete in the open market? Take your ball and go home, declare your opposition to be agents of (insert boogeyman) and declare you’re saving democracy. Shut down all dissent and criticisms, become authoritarian.

 @HumanR1ghtsLeoLibertarian from New Hampshire  commented…1mo1MO

What were the problems that caused him to take these extreme measures. What, specifically, were they doing that provoked his wrath. Given Yoon's extremist reaction, I can only assume it's a good thing and opposed by NATO and the U.S.

I think millions of people should not be affected because of a small group of people.
