President-elect Trump announced Rep.
Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) would serve as his attorney general, tapping a loyal congressional ally who himself was the subject of a Justice Department investigation.
“It is my Great Honor to announce that Congressman Matt Gaetz, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The Attorney General of the United States. Matt is a deeply gifted and tenacious attorney, trained at the William & Mary College of Law, who has distinguished himself in Congress through his focus on achieving desperately needed reform at the Department of Justice,” Trump wrote on his social media site.
“Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System.
Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department.”
Trump went on to highlight Gaetz playing “a key role in defeating the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax,” the latest in a string of nominations of those who aligned with Trump amid his first impeachment investigation.

Absolutely shocking! Appointing someone under investigation by the same department he's supposed to oversee? This is a conflict of interest 101. Where's the integrity?
@5FRZFQ9Patriotism1yr1Y
Gaetz was cleared in his investigation, right? If so, why are we still questioning his integrity? He's been a fighter against the deep state, and that's what we need.
This is a travesty! Gaetz's appointment is a middle finger to the rule of law. Trump's just surrounding himself with yes-men to dismantle checks and balances.
Honestly, I just wish both sides would stop these extreme picks. We need stability and professionalism in the Justice Department, not someone who’s more of a partisan warrior.

The left has taken over every institution. Gaetz knows how they operate, and he’ll clean house.

Gaetz’s legal experience is actually pretty thin for an AG, by the way. He’s a firebrand in Congress, sure, but leading the DOJ is a different animal. It’s a complex job, and I’m just not convinced he’s prepared for it
@NarwhalHarry1yr1Y
I'm no Trump fan, but Gaetz has been vocal about justice reform. If he can walk the walk, this might not be the worst decision. However, his own investigation clouds this significantly.
Gaetz will make sure the witch hunt against Trump ends. He's a patriot and has shown loyalty when it mattered. It's time to fight back against the establishment.
@AwedC1vilRights1yr1Y
Gaetz is the man to dismantle the corrupt system from within. He understands the game because he's been a target of it. This is strategic, not just political favoritism.
Wow, finally someone who understands that the DOJ has been used as a weapon! Gaetz will clean house and bring back justice. This is about time!
Gaetz helped destroy the Florida greyhound racing industry, which was abusing dogs. Also a member of the congressional caucus that works on animal protection issues.

The racing of dogs is so much more important than racing horses? That was not money well spent. Let’s boycott KFC for killing chickens.
