This is exactly why big government is such a mess

The more power you give to people in office, the more corruption seems to follow. We shouldn’t be surprised that another politician’s inner circle is caught up in shady dealings. Instead of giving them control over every little thing, we need to scale back the size and influence of government to reduce the opportunities for corruption. Let people make their own choices and keep the government out of as much as possible. Maybe then we wouldn’t see stories like this every other week.
