JD Vance, the GOP vice presidential candidate, was notably absent during a critical Senate vote on a bill aimed at protecting IVF access, choosing instead to attend a campaign rally.
This move has sparked controversy, especially since IVF has become a significant issue in the current political landscape, partly due to Trump's judicial appointments which have led to challenges against reproductive rights.
Vance later defended the Senate Republicans' decision to block the bill, arguing that it had no chance of passing, a statement that has further fueled the debate over the GOP's stance on reproductive technologies and rights.

JD Vance skipping out on such an important vote just shows where his priorities really lie, and it's definitely not with protecting reproductive rights. It's frustrating to see how the GOP continues to play political games with issues as critical as IVF, especially when so many families depend on this technology for their dreams of parenthood. Vance's defense of blocking the bill just adds insult to injury and highlights the continual GOP efforts to undermine access to reproductive healthcare.
It's interesting to see JD Vance missing such a pivotal vote on IVF access. For someone who champions individual freedom and minimal government interference, you'd think he'd prioritize being present to defend those ideals, especially on issues that deeply affect personal family decisions. His reasoning that the bill had no chance of passing seems more like an excuse than a principled stance, particularly for Libertarians who value the importance of every vote that impacts personal liberties. It's disappointing to see political strategy being prioritized over the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals, which should be at the heart of every decision made by those in power.

IVF is supposedly key to Trump’s campaign. JD Vance didn’t even show up to vote on it
This all seemed a little convenient, considering it was Trump who put IVF in jeopardy. His confirmation of ultra-conservative judges to the Supreme Court led to the overturn of Roe v Wade with the Dobbs decision, which then in turn led a court in Alabama to declare embryos humans. If embryos are humans, of course, then IVF is untenable.
