Seven-in-10 Americans say they are going to watch the first presidential debate between Vice President Harris and former President Donald Trump on Tuesday, and 3-in-10 say it will help decide their vote, according to a new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll out.
An overwhelming majority of respondents said they are definitely voting in this election – 82%, in fact.
Harris supporters are marginally more likely to say so — 85% — with independents registering at just 77%.
Harris leads with those who say they’re definitely voting by 3 points, but both she and Trump have some turnout warning signs.
Trump continues to have the upper hand on many of the fundamentals in this election — he’s trusted more on the economy, immigration and how to handle the Middle East.
And people who want a strong leader prefer him by a wide margin.
Harris is slightly better liked, is seen as caring “more about people like you,” is viewed as the candidate who most represents change, and she leads by a lot among those who say they want a leader who is “honest and trustworthy.” She also has a more significant advantage on abortion rights than Trump has on the other issues asked about.

Harris has been muzzled. She needs to snap back at the Trump bullying, retort a bit. What is a leader if they can't show aggression at righteous moments? Acting demure and dignified and "rising above it" just doesn't cut it. Men and people respect righteous anger. Cut the laugh.
Trump has used the same insults over and over again when talking about Harris, and it is okay to be the bigger person, and not clap back because it shows confidence, and as long as Trump isn't accusing her of anything or creating allegations I don't think Harris needs to come back and say something.

If Harris is down by 3% with White voters, she wins in an earthquake. All the polls I have seen from well reputable Hispanic pollsters have Trump in low 30's. I still can't figure out the concerted efforts for these new polls. Something smell fishy. Americans aren't stupid!
Looks as if the “Harris Honeymoon” has ended —even in NPR/Marist poll, which shows Harris a marginal point up over Trump in September but she’s a point below where Biden was in early July
Yesterday she’s ahead by 6 pts in the ABC poll, and leading in most of the battleground states in the Morning Consult…but Marc wants her so-called “honeymoon” to end so he ignores those polls.

That poll seems very off to me… there is no way Harris is only down by 3% with white voters and no way Trump will receive nearly of quarter of the black vote….
