Artificial proteins and carbohydrates have been shown, every time, to decrease the health of anyone who ingests them.

 @BB2MZ6MRepublican  from West Virginia  disagreed…3mos3MO

With the use of lab grown meat we reduce animal abuse and the overuse of cattle farms. With the use of cattle farms there a large amount of greenhouse gasses that radiate from that. Although I do agree with the use of real meat and not lab grown meat. I believe that there should be more regulations for cattle farms so the animals aren't living in torture but we should be eating real meat.

 @BB2RG7LProgressive from Minnesota  disagreed…3mos3MO

There is no such thing as an "artificial" protein or carbohydrate. And studies based on nascent technologies often lead to highly myopic viewpoints.

 @BB2CH5P from California  disagreed…3mos3MO

If they don't need it, don't spend their money on it. And where is that studying? If we don't dig deeper into that field who would do? Tomatoes also weren't put on pizzas until someone did it.

 @BB2Y9BFfrom Maine  disagreed…3mos3MO

With more research, we might be able to figure out a way to make it similar enough to actual meat that said side effects are less likely to occur.

 @BCVYLRKRepublican  from Ohio  agreed…2wks2W

You do not know what is being processed with your meat. How much those machine are being clean. What chemicals are being made with your meat.

 @BCZCQ9ZDemocrat from Minnesota  disagreed…2wks2W

A lot of these same arguments could be made for the way meat is cleaned/prepared today. It's not like a guy is just walking up to a dead cow and stripping it for parts like a hunter with a deer, it's a highly automated process that involved many machines, many people, many chemicals and I would be shocked by anybody claiming they could name every step and material used in the process. The best counterargument to non lab grown meat would simply be price. I see stew meat, a relatively "bad" cut of meat being sold for 9.99 per pound. Lab grown meat would increase supply, thus…  Read more

 @BCXTJBN from California  disagreed…2wks2W

the same thing could be said with cattle, you dont know where they eat or have eaten, doesn't matter where the meat comes from there is always a risk of parasites

 @BCY72DF  from Florida  disagreed…2wks2W

Sterile vs. Biological Environments: Traditional slaughterhouses are hotbeds for bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella because animals naturally carry them. Lab-grown meat is produced in "clean rooms"—sterile, pharmaceutical-grade environments—which virtually eliminates the risk of foodborne illness and fecal contamination.

 @BCYMF4T from Washington  disagreed…2wks2W

We have laws put into place that regulate unsafe chemicals that would be used to make the meat unsafe to eat.

 @BBZ24GQ  from Georgia  agreed…2mos2MO

Effects of consumption of newer products and drugs often take decades to show themselves in the form of cancer and other illnesses.

 @BBZQGX7 from Washington  agreed…2mos2MO

Yes, i agree with this comment about Lab Grown Meat. We should not let the author know because it can affect on the business they are made.

 @BB86DLX  from Arizona  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab grown meat can open roads to new technologies, constantly advancing society and making up for food shortages as the population expands. It should be clearly labeled when sold, however.

 @BC9DB77  from California  agreed…1mo1MO

There was a time when cigarettes were prescribed as a medical supplement- Americans are no strangers to the lack of research into fields, especially when it comes to food and health.

 @BCFFS9WNo Labels  from Texas  disagreed…1mo1MO

It might have cancerous stuff in it, we never know until we test smth and find information at the right moments in time

 @BCBHKD5 from California  agreed…1mo1MO

Claims of cigarettes being prescribed as a medical supplement were largely responsible due to a lack of research or certified officials bought out by companies to promote these products. These are two different time periods, as of today we have significantly changed in technologies than before, but the looming threat of cooperate greed is still there to potentially control the market. Which is why stricter regulations and actions to free the market against these threats should be implemented to rebuild that trust that has been lost. Lab Grown Meats can serve as an alternative food when resources are scarce.

 @B9RC794  from Washington  agreed…3mos3MO

We need more long term studies to ensure safety of lab grown meat because manufacturing muscle fibers of a living animal by the use a machine is under-studied and mysterious in a way that we are unaware of

 @B9TY9K7Peace and Freedom from Minnesota  agreed…3mos3MO

I believe that Lab Grown meat is not safe for people/animals to consume because it is not natural, it also does not taste good compared to real meat.

 @B9T2XFJ from Texas  agreed…3mos3MO

I agree because Lab Grown Meats are a new type of technology and effects of this new technology are not known yet.

 @B9SS5L7  from South Carolina  agreed…3mos3MO

I agree with that statement. I feel lab grown meat could help our current issues with our growing population and diminishing livestock and meat industry, with disclosure, I believe it could benefit. However I foresee an issue with not knowing enough about it for it to be commercialized quite yet, I feel in the next decade potentially. But not soon, and not without disclosure of what it is and knowledge of how it's made and will affect you and the environment. It has shown to use more resources than ranching and raising livestock for meat ever has which can have very negative impacts.

 @B9SMJRF from Illinois  disagreed…3mos3MO

Yes, I think we need to do more testing to make sure lab growth meat is safe, but killing off animals needs to slowing die off because it’s disrupting the balance in our ecosystems.

 @BB96HF8Democrat from South Carolina  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab grown meat could be a good alternative food option in the future but it needs to be further studied to ensure safety to public health and the environment.

 @BBS83RV from Alabama  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab grown meat can protect the environment ONLY after we know long-term effects and everything lab grown is labeled.

 @BC4777Hfrom Maine  agreed…2mos2MO

The long term affects of various things like GMOs have not been fully tested. It is really important to protect the health of the public.

 @BC9C82S from Arizona  agreed…1mo1MO

With so many deadly illnesses like cancer roaming around we STILL aren't 100% sure what causes these things because there are so many possibilities. So we should be more cautious and study more before just consuming things, because it's supposed to nourish our brains and bodies.

 @BC3RZST from Georgia  agreed…2mos2MO

I understand that killing animals to eat them can reduce the amount we have in the country but to go in a lab and make fake meat with chemicals we don't know about is not right. If the county still wants to sell lab grown meat, they should say that on the packing to inform the people and not keep them blind-sided.

 @BBDZ2GRNo Labels from Wyoming  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab grown meat can open roads to new technologies, constantly advancing society and making up for food shortages as the population expands. It should be clearly labeled when sold, however. and there should be a great investment of affects and take years to even get into the market since it is an unknown then that will allow for public opinion to accept it. if it is safe to eat it would be a subtiution for what is the slaughter of animals

 @BB8GB32Socialist from Washington D.C.  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab grown meat could be a possibility if does not cause any side effects, is as nutritious as regular meat is, and the consumer knows the meat is lab grown.

 @B8V8QSK from Texas  agreed…5mos5MO

I honestly feel like lab grown meat shouldn't even be a thing in any country whatsoever, its not safe for human consumption long term or short term. We deserve to eat real meat from real animals.

 @B838H4Z from Pennsylvania  agreed…6mos6MO

There is many instances of lab made products being found to have bad effects on our bodies so we shouldn't be selling a product to a whole population without more safety precautions being taken.

 @B8DLWXVRepublican  from Florida  agreed…6mos6MO

the meat that goers the fastest is cancer cells, so what is this meat made off. what are the longer term effects.

 @BB6B9JH from Texas  agreed…3mos3MO

Without long-term studies for data and statistics, we wouldn't know what we would be dealing with in order to ensure safety for our citizens.

 @B9ZH267 from Florida  agreed…3mos3MO

What are you eating? Do you know? What are you feeding your children? Do you know how it will effect there development in the long term?

 @B9Y7PNF from Virginia  agreed…3mos3MO

Lab grown meat was just created in 2013; this is not enough time to see the long-term effects of Lab Grown Meat on the body.

 @BCZC74R from Iowa  agreed…2wks2W

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7020248/

"Although these are not yet known, we speculated on the potential health benefits and drawbacks of cultured meat."

This, coming from a 2020 scientific study on lab-grown meat, should not be enough evidence for the FDA to call lab-grown meat safe.

"On the other hand, with this high level of cell multiplication, some dysregulation is likely as happens in cancer cells. Likewise, the control of its nutritional composition is still unclear, especially for micronutrients and iron."

 @BCJMZBR from North Dakota  agreed…1mo1MO

Although lab grown meat has passed initial regulatory safety assessments, many scientists argue that long-term studies are still necessary. Because it is a novel food produced using growth media, bioreactors, and engineered cell lines, there is limited data on long-term human consumption. Research highlights potential concerns including chemical residues, contamination risks during large-scale production, and the absence of historical dietary exposure, all of which justify continued study before widespread adoption. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0924224423002091?utm_source=chatgpt.com

 @BC58RVX from California  agreed…2mos2MO

Anything lab related involving food and mass production should be studied on it's safety until we're positive its safe. Since anything as such would obviously be dangerous without testing or enough research.

 @BBV5KZB from Arizona  agreed…2mos2MO

A joint report by the FAO and WHO identified 53 potential food safety hazards associated with cultured meat, including the potential for cancer-like cell proliferation and issues with the immune system.

 @BB97G6Y from Georgia  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab Grown Meat is still in development, you don't want to ingest something that has only recently been researched. Lab Grown Meat could have detrimental side effects. Although I believe that looking for an alternative to the violent and inhumane meat industry is needed, there needs to be great caution; because, we are putting the lives of millions at stake.

 @B9YX2T7 from Illinois  agreed…3mos3MO

If there are not long-term studies then it will be taken advantage of. Most companies won´t care about whats in it but how much they can get it for and how cheap it can be made.

 @BC4489H from California  agreed…2mos2MO

We need to analyze the product completely and look for any life threatening things inside the product.

 @BC33L54 from Minnesota  agreed…2mos2MO

We haven’t been super exposed to lab grown meat. We don’t have much research or evidence on it being good for you and your body.

 @BB956QG from Florida  agreed…2mos2MO

The government should approve of food if it meets the standards and safety before allowing or encouraging the public to try it as it can become dangerous

 @BD53FW7Republican from Texas  agreed…6 days6D

We need a lot of long-term studies on this new form of creating meat because of its untrustworthiness of people and the way it's made. It would be like trying to get everyone in the world to switch to electric cars all at once, even though research says electric car parts aren't doing that much better at protecting the environment than gas fueled cars. We also need to test this more because of the potential risk it could have on our body and what it could taste like, or the texture, or the cost it'll take to make something like that, or the amount of people that would distrust something like that.

 @BCQ2D6V from Pennsylvania  agreed…4wks4W

There needs to be a way to make what we consume healthy, no need to make it something fake. We could find other things to use to supply more real food.

 @BCNGTDK from Texas  agreed…4wks4W

Lab grown meat is a new thing, of course it would help plenty of people and could possibly be a good source of food. But it’s NEW, you need studies on the effect it has on a person after a long time to make sure it’s safe.

 @BCHRQTK from Virginia  agreed…1mo1MO

There have been zero long term studies in regardless to the long term health effects of lab grown meat. This could very well be another one of the many things that we are told is not bad for us, but turns out to be terrible for our bodies. and causes lifelong health affects.

 @BB4K488 from Florida  agreed…3mos3MO

No, we need more long-term studies to ensure safety. Due to the fact that it isn't safe if someone tampers with the meat, and people eat bad meat that may end up spreading a disease. In the end we need more studies to ensure the safety of eating lab produced meat, and I will say this again. Actual meat is healthier and we just need to pay farmers more in order for people to start farms and raise cows, chickens, etc. To be able to not rely on technology to make food from DNA.

 @BB4DVLHIndependent from Tennessee  agreed…3mos3MO

we should not be ingesting something without doing proper resource into are body's also it is manmade not from the ground or the earth or from a cattle it is processed and fake and who knows what kind of chemicals are put into it to be able to be digested but there more than likely not good for you.

 @BB4C77D from Alabama  agreed…3mos3MO

I think we need more studies, because I couldn't trust lab-grown meat if its not natural like a chicken from a farm then being grown in a lab.

 @B9WL4NB from Florida  agreed…3mos3MO

Lab grown meat was created only 13 years ago in 2013. This doesn’t give enough time for us to test its effects long-term, specially taking into account long-term testing didn’t start right away. This plus the power it gives corporations to not only regulate prices but also to cut corners in the future could create a dangerous future where we eat poison disguised as food in the name of affordability.

 @B8WP65H from North Carolina  agreed…5mos5MO

If we start growing meat in labs without guaranteeing that it is 100 percent safe, people can be in harm and would increase spending in Medicare

 @B8LC6LR from North Carolina  agreed…6mos6MO

Multiple microplastics have been found in lab grown meet and microplastics have been found in newborn babies lungs and overall decrease fertility rates.

 @B8K2S6H from Texas  agreed…6mos6MO

Its the same thing as if we were to starts making lab grown vegetables and fruit, people want to know if their food is natural or artificially grown.

 @B8GHLL2 from Florida  agreed…6mos6MO

Lab grown meat could be potentially poisonous, mutative, and even just over all dangerous, and is a new technology.

 @BD2X9VS from Michigan  agreed…1wk1W

We need to ensure the cleanliness of the lab, the hands of the people who grow it, and the mental state of the person growing it.

 @BCSB34DDemocrat from California  agreed…3wks3W

Companies will be the ones producing these goods and will be the ones to actually know all the things that go into them.

 @BBTX9BC from Missouri  agreed…2mos2MO

I don't want people to eat unnatural meat, let alone unsafe meat. We do health inspections on the REAL meat we purchase today, and I would expect the same precautions taken when handling this weird lab-grown meat.

 @BBHMDRFNo Labels from South Carolina  agreed…2mos2MO

Overall, due to the novel nature of lab-cultured "meat," the lack of transparency from the companies involved, and the myriad potential health risks to consumers, rigorous regulation of this product is vitally important.

 @BB3FSJF from Massachusetts  agreed…3mos3MO

its always wise, to take something new with causion, exapacailly thats man made, as consumption, for we have seen what a couple of man mad foods that have side effects.

 @B9C2P46 from Indiana  agreed…4mos4MO

Lab grown meat is still actively being studied and shouldn't be accessible to the public if no one knows the long term side effects.

 @B8SF9JWSocialist from Michigan  agreed…5mos5MO

It's unknown whether lab-grown meat poses more risks or fewer safety concerns than traditional meat. The United Nations (UN) World Health Organization (WHO) says there may be some concerns with microbial contamination and allergens. Keep in mind that conventional meat also carries these risks. -cdc

accoording to this site, genetically modified soy leghemoglobin (slh) is used to mmimic the meat taste, which could be harmful.

 @B8NTH23 from North Dakota  agreed…5mos5MO

Lab-grown meat is not a healthy alternative that we should eat, and if we mandate it as well, it will become disastrous, since people are likely only pushing it for an agenda for progress, and so far, there is no conclusive data on the long-term health effects.

 @B8LTKPJPeace and Freedom from Florida  agreed…6mos6MO

I mean do you want to possibly get cancer or some other terrible health concern from eating strange meat?

 @BBR9DMT from California  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab grown meat could carry things such as Cancer and we have NO idea on how It will compare to real meat.

 @B9YQ6L5 from Arizona  agreed…3mos3MO

The gooogle AI review says "Long-term studies on lab-grown (cultivated) meat are limited due to its recent emergence as a consumer product."

 @B9XRGPM from Delaware  agreed…3mos3MO

It needs more testing since its lacks the diet and a few other things compared to non lab grown meat also its not cheap and takes more energy to make.

 @B8FMPQ6 from Maryland  agreed…6mos6MO

I think this can make people sick and also develop weird body habits which can harm their immune system.

 @B84NLLP from Utah  agreed…6mos6MO

Like people that have beef farms are going to go out of business because the lab will be able to get the meat faster than beef farmers because they have to wait till the steer is ready to be slaughtered.

 @B7YZ236Republican from Texas  agreed…6mos6MO

Long-term studies would add more of a buffer to ensure that there are no specific disease causing bacteria that is unknown as of this current stand on the creation of the meat.

 @BBVT34WLibertarian from Iowa  agreed…2mos2MO

Lab-grown meat seems sketchy based on how it is made, and how eerily similar it tastes to the actual thing.

 @BBJWLZC from Massachusetts  agreed…2mos2MO

we are always finding new things so it is not hard to imagen what we will find in the meat that is bad for us.

 @B9YCHXCNo Labels from California  agreed…3mos3MO

There was an episode of Spongebob where lab grown patties almost turned the whole town into zombies. There was another one where patties made on a conveyor belt were just spray painted garbage.

 @BD8RR35 from Pennsylvania  agreed…4hrs4H

I have little trust in the FDA as the US has been letting ingrediants in food for years that have been banned in other countries. Essentially, they have willingly been poisoning people slowly. They will continue to do the same with any new foods regardless if it's safe or not, however, I think more studies should be done so that the consumer can make an informed choice as it ultimately falls on the consumer to do so within the US.
