There was a ceasefire in place on October 6th, the reason we are here is because Hamas broke that ceasefire. Allowing a violent group that repeatedly violates ceasefire agreements, with the expectation that they will face no relative consequences other than a new ceasefire agreement with which they will violate at a moment of their choosing as they always do, to maintain their foothold and existence is foolish and bad policy. No self-respecting nation would allow for such an agreement when their own sovereignty and security are in jeopardy. Nor should any ally of a nation that falls victim to such a circumstance advocate in the defense of their ally's aggressor.
