Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling said at a Wednesday morning briefing that 55 to 60 people, including three journalists, were arrested overnight at pro-Palestinian demonstration outside the Israeli consulate in Chicago.
“We declared a mass arrest after our officers were physically confronted,” Snelling said, insisting that protesters “showed up with the intent of committing acts of violence and vandalism.”
Snelling said the city plans to prosecute protesters. He said 22 of those arrested were from outside Chicago, many from the West Coast.

"Police were using batons until ordered to stop."
I really don't think batons should be used on non violent people. Of course, most Americans don't want Israeli Consulates here in the US. Israel is committing War Crimes, our leaders are backing them without consent of the governed. I'm a lifelong Republican and I feel this way.
Who ordered the police to stop using batons ? Who was top commander on scene ? Was it from city hall ?
