Trump had a fairly easy path to victory against Biden, and beating Harris is still very much within the realm of possibility.
But he just doesn’t seem interested in staying focused and putting in the work. Great pick, Republicans.
What gets Trump’s blood flowing is his endless sense of victimhood, his perpetual whining that all his problems are the result of shadowy forces conspiring against him, and his stubborn insistence on re-litigating the 2020 election, even when that is light-years away from the top priorities of the voters he needs to win.
Speaking at a rally in a Georgia State University arena in Atlanta on Saturday, Trump periodically sounded like he was running for governor against Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. Telling the audience that “your numbers in Georgia are very average, your crime numbers, your economic numbers, all of your numbers, you’re very average.
You can do a lot better and you’ll do a lot better with a better governor,” Trump said of Kemp, whose approval rating is a robust 63 percent, “He’s a bad guy, he’s a disloyal guy, and he’s a very average governor.” Oh, and Trump referred to Kemp, who’s perhaps an inch shorter than the former president, as “Little Brian, Little Brian Kemp.”
Kemp and Raffensperger refused to help Trump game the 2020 election results, therefore they’re the enemy — regardless of how useful their support could be for 2024 in a state that could have a big influence on Trump’s fortunes.
.Here are the top political news stories for today.
Trump is delusional enough to think he can have it both ways, attacking Gov. Kemp and winning Georgia. But then he's never been the poster boy for consequential thinking.

He knows he is going to lose now. He isn't trying to win. He is trying to build his militia for another violent coup attempt.

Trump's lack of strategic thinking shows a decline in mental capacity. While it is true that all campaigns feature set talking points, Trump's indulgence in repeating strange stories really strikes me as being a sign of mild cognitive impairment. Trump wants to win, but isn't really sure why. He needs to take not only the general practitioner's cognitive test (the "Montreal" test that he bragged about many years ago) but a thorough neurocognitive test.
I do not think tRump wants to win. I do think he just wants to fleece the unwitting for as much money as he can, though.

Is relitigating past elections an effective way to energize voters, or does it distract from addressing their current needs?
@9RX3QZN2yrs2Y
No
Undecided voters are not interested in the Trump fantasy that he was defeated by fraudulent votes.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Considering Trump's approach, does it reflect a strategy for victory or a preference for playing the victim?
@9RX3QZN2yrs2Y
Pre-emptive excuses for failure.
This is a hallmark of Trump - on TV, being convicted, winning and losing the presidency… all his paths are the most difficult ones.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Do you think Trump's focus on past grievances rather than future plans shows a genuine desire to win, or something else?
@9RX3QZN2yrs2Y
Exposes his self-centered nature
