The American system is controlled by the lobbyists and donors who fund it. He who pays the piper, calls the tune. The average American voter may want a more balanced policy toward Israel, but the average American voter is not writing the million-dollar cheques that get our politicians' attention.

If Ms. Harris feels that the Democratic party Gaza policy should revolve around the safety and well being of Palestinian civilians, then she should come out and state this and so should the Democratic party. Make it clear.

Biden did not start the war in Gaza and he does not have the power to stop it.

Read the history of this area. There are decades, and even millennia, of conflict. One side really does not want peace. (People will disagree as to which side that is.) The situation is horrible, especially for the innocent civilians caught up in it. But it's a very complex conflict that is almost impossible to solve. Using an historical war that predates all of us to beat up on Biden is, in my opinion, disingenuous.

It's possible to support the continued existence of Isreal without supporting their current rightwing leader or his apartheid policies. It really is.

The fact that such prominent political figures were trying to "escape" an issue of this scale is concerning to begin with.

There’s no sugarcoating this. Look around the world. The number of countries recognizing Palestine as a sovereign state. Turkey saying it will intervene on behalf of Palestine. The US needs to be nudging Israel in the right direction before it sets off a conflagration that neither they or we can control. Harris needs to drive home that support for Israel does not mean support for Netanyahu.

The fact that we're sending untold amounts of money in bombs tanks machine guns and weaponry to Israel ( to fight against people who don't even have an army or even one military vehicle ) eroding our own constitutional rights to free speech to support a government whom is now considered rogue having committed to genocide against children and innocents, bombing hospitals and schools, disregarding international law and trying to starve the entire population to death. She needs to come out strong against this.. I stand in solidarity with the compassionate majority to let Kamela know…  Read more

Every administration since Truman's has supported the state of Israel, which has been viewed as our most reliable and essential ally in that region. So long as that view remains a bedrock principle of American foreign policy, substantial support for Israel will continue at a level that ensures its survival amidst its avowed enemies.

If she wants to win, she must necessarily be careful not to alienate voters who more closely align with Israel than Hamas. Protest is fashionable in progressive circles, with Gaza being the latest cause celibre. This is exactly the sort of thing people leaning right abhor and the sort of thing that will make a lightning rod litmus test for her electability. If she toes too far left she’ll play perfectly into this and lose key swing voter support.

How important do you think it is for future U.S. leaders to reconsider their stance on Israel, given changing public opinion?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

Do you believe it's critical for political leaders to align their foreign policies with the youngest members of their party? Why or why not?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

If you were in Kamala Harris's position, would you continue making weapons shipments or change course?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

Would you support a U.S. policy change that vetoes Palestinian requests for full membership in the U.N.? Why or why not?

How would you feel if the U.S. decided to attach humanitarian conditions to future military aid?
