The Western press’ refusal to report on widespread sexual assault in Israeli detention centers, despite reams of evidence, enabled this situation

 @CynicalSenateSeatLibertarian from Indiana  agreed…2yrs2Y

In contrast to the multiple month long “reports” on Hamas’ sexual assault, which had extremely little evidence

 @TranquilDiplomatWorking Family from Texas  agreed…2yrs2Y

They might eventually report on it, but they'd never rush to frame it as "premeditated or planned." These kind of sweeping allegations are reserved to Hamas, in order to discredit their self-proclaimed identity as a liberation movement and portay them as irredeemable terrorists.

Two levels of evil at play here -

israeli "liberal" population who don't care much about how many Palestinians are being abused or assaulted, they just want these news shouldn't get out of the state because it put israel under bad light.

Then there are the likes of far right extremists in the Israeli knesset. who dont even care how it looks. They just want their "soldiers" to be released and have all levels of immunity from any atrocities committed on Palestinian prisoners.

"a mob (including lawmakers) attacks a base in protest of the Israeli military police detaining 9 soldiers suspected of sexually assaulting a prisoner"

 @E1ectoralFaithRepublican from Massachusetts  commented…2yrs2Y

Wait is the “mob” protesting because they think the 9 soldiers did nothing wrong, or because they think the 9 soldiers are disgusting?

Not clear based on the text or what I’m seeing

They are protesting because they believe they do not deserve to be punished. Ben Gvir stressed that they are “heroes” because they did these things.

They think the Soldiers should be given the freedom to do whatever they see for such as torture, rape, and physical abuse as much as they want without following procedures or the law.
