How important is it for a government to provide financial relief to people with heavy educational debts?

Their fault, we can't keep increasing inflation to save people from their debt. Decrease interest rates and retroactively apply it to their loan. Their are plenty of career paths that do not require (and others that should not require) college degrees. Feeding into that system will only worsen the matter. Furthermore, the government should decrease loan amounts overall and limit loans to only public institutions. The cost of college has inflated way beyond what is sustainable.
