Australia has publicly accused a Chinese government-backed hacking group of conducting cyber espionage and data theft against Australian entities.

The Australian government's cybersecurity agency identified the group as responsible for stealing passwords and usernames from two Australian networks in 2022, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by these cyber intrusions. Home Affairs and Cyber Security Minister Clare O’Neil emphasized the significant threat foreign government-sponsored cyber activities pose to national security.
