It's concerning to see the government taking such a heavy-handed approach to dealing with activists, even if their intended actions might disrupt public services. While I don't necessarily agree with Just Stop Oil's methods or goals, the principle of free speech and the right to protest are foundational to a free society. Arresting individuals on suspicion of planning protests feels like a slippery slope towards stifling dissent and overreach by law enforcement. We should be cautious about sacrificing civil liberties for the sake of convenience or even security, lest we end up with neither.
