NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is fueling tensions with Russia with his revelation that the US-led military bloc is considering putting more nuclear weapons on standby, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
Consultations between member nations on moving some warheads from stockpile to combat readiness are ongoing, the NATO chief told The Telegraph on Sunday.
He said the bloc may soon “face something that it has never faced before, and that is two nuclear-powered potential adversaries – China and Russia” and therefore needs to send the foes a message.
Putin addressed the issue during a meeting with foreign media earlier this month. He said he believed nuclear-armed nations should abstain from issuing nuclear threats, but said that Western nations delude themselves if they expect Russia not to follow its own nuclear doctrine.
“If someone’s actions pose a threat to our sovereignty and territorial integrity, we consider ourselves in the right to use all means at our disposal,” he said.
“This issue must not be treated lightly.”

This is why we need Trump as he will push them as it's time they stop freeloading off the US and he is the only one with the will to stop it.

Trump was laughed at openly by other leaders at the 2019 NATO meeting in London. He left early in a huff.
NATO military spending spiked in 2017.
And then the rate of increase and spending in real dollars decreased in 2018, 2019 and 2020 compared to 2017.
Assigning any NATO improvement to trump is factually incorrect and contradicts his senior advisors.
Read General John Kelly’s scathing remarks about trump and his view of our alliances and our military as suckers and losers.
BTW - Kelly was trump’s longest serving chief of staff.
trump’s senior people call him unfit.

Why is it that the West continues to play defense when faced with terrorists like Putin and Hamas. Remember when Gadhafi did some saber rattling and Reagan bombed him. Suddenly no more saber rattling.
Collectively destroy all Russian troops in Ukraine, including Crimea and set up a defense system that Russia could not penetrate. Coordinating procurement is good. Executing a winning strategy is better...
NATO faces dual threats. One is from Russia. The other is from trump if he’s re-elected.

First, Trump wrote a book on negotiating (The Art Of The Deal). Are you so sure he is not simply forcing those pathetic cowards in Europe to pull their own weight? Also, Trump kept the price of oil down. Biden is screwing Europe on fuel. That does make Europe weaker.
I see the Democrats controlling Biden are negotiating with Hamas cutting out Israel. I thought we didn't negotiate with terrorists? I am sure all of NATO is cheering the Democrats on. How is Ukraine more important than Israel?
Frankly, I am all for just giving Ukraine enough help to keep Russians dying for as long as we can.

A little fact check, Russia started the war in 2014 while the NATO stood by. Then Europe got in bed with Putin for cheap energy and NATO countries failed to meet theirs 2% GDP spending.
Perhaps now NATO countries will get their act together...one can only hope.
