Ironically, AOC is saying "dark money" is influencing the Supreme Court because she received $400,000 in contributions that can be attributed to various business sectors. Corporations influence Congress 1000x more than they do the Supreme Court (if they do at all).
During the 2022 cycle, business interests contributed $3.5 billion to Congressional candidates (see the link at the bottom). In fact, the average member of Congress is worth 7x more than the average Supreme Court Justice. The current judges of the Supreme Court, meanwhile, have a combined net worth of $65 million. John Roberts, who accounts for 40% of that sum, was already a multi-millionaire before becoming a member of the high court. Meanwhile, Justice Alito amassed most of his wealth from inheritance. Justice Kagan amassed most of her wealth through the slow and steady accumulation of it. Overall, there is little to no evidence that SCOTUS justices are influenced by corporate donations or even receive them at all.
