Yes, and provide ways to get homeless people mental health and sobriety assistance through existing non-profit organizations

 @9ZCZWG7Libertarian from California  answered…6mos6MO

If the government cuts funding for useless programs and/or wasting money, then the government certainly can. Personally, I believe that private nonprofits do a better job, but I wouldn’t object to the government actually doing good.

 @9YM58JXLibertarian from Missouri  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, homelessness is a big problem in the united staes, and there arent enough shelters and opportunity for people in need.

 @9YL8BWHLibertarian from New Jersey  answered…6mos6MO

There needs to be a new outreach program rehabbing people. the ones who don’t accept treatment and re incorporate into society would have a more limited number of shelters.

 @9YKJBNB from Alabama  answered…6mos6MO

No, I believe the community should raise shelters where the homeless can stay the night as well as provide a community meal.

 @9YFHJB5Libertarianfrom Ohio  answered…6mos6MO

Hit or miss but I don't see a problem with them being allocated to one common area instead of being on the streets or anywhere.

 @9YFGJ86Libertarianfrom Maine  answered…6mos6MO

Arguably they should be looking at the source of the problem, rather than focussing on how to mitigate the fallout

 @9YDTD8V from Kansas  answered…6mos6MO

Efforts should be directed to housing individuals that want to "get back on their feet" and not sustaining those that do not.

 @9YCPNQYLibertarian from Nebraska  answered…6mos6MO

Maybe, Funding should be increased to fight homelessness but I don’t know if shelters is the most effective place

 @9Y7CG74Libertarian from Texas  answered…6mos6MO

I think that they should try to help fund places for the homeless, but start helping the homeless find jobs as well

 @9Y4JJYWLibertarian from Washington  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, but also increase funding for job/life rehabilitation so it increases the success rate for them to get back on their feet and be productive.

 @9Y3LDWGLibertarian from Tennessee  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, but they should focus on rehabilitation as well as job searches to get individuals into a stable home and job.

 @9XZ2G9JLibertarian from Colorado  answered…6mos6MO

no, I think that homeless should be working and be put to work if they really want to not be homeless the government can use them as guinea pigs and get paid and ect. like cleaning up the area and homeless could work.

 @9XMVJ5S from Georgia  answered…7mos7MO

I like the approach of providing a small space for homeless to live temporarily where they can stay clean and safe while they get themselves on their feet; it would be cheaper than the costs we put into the homeless "issue" currently.

 @9XJTC5YLibertarian from Indiana  answered…7mos7MO

I believe only the homeless people that try to get better should deserve more help rather than the people that do it just to get money

 @9XGC9T5Libertarian from Texas  answered…7mos7MO

Michael Schellenberger, copy Denmark or Sweden's System cause it works.

Gotta give people skin in the game & consequences to get out of it. Also just have to give people some help, not open use drugs or free drugs to use, gotta get people free/unstuck so they can make something of themselves & have a reasonable life.

 @9X9DT43Libertarian from Nevada  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, only if the government can provide mental and physical health screenings, and rehabilitation that will help limit the amount of homeless

 @9X7CSCRLibertarian from Arizona  answered…7mos7MO

Increased funding coupled with mental health, drug rehab and othet social services to address all the causes of homelessness

 @9WZ7MVHLibertarian from Washington  answered…7mos7MO

I think there is a lot of funding towards homeless shelters and services, but it isn't used in a very efficient way. So, I don't think funding should be increased, but there should be more consideration as to how its spent.

 @9CCDFLZLibertarian  from California  answered…7mos7MO

No, Such actions should be a private affair amongst communities to ensure personal independence and self-reliance.

 @robsmckLibertarian  from North Carolina  answered…7mos7MO

Rely on experts in the field to provide better research and better strategies to prevent homelessness and help those experiencing homelessness find a new path to getting off the street.

  @KindredburkeLibertarian  from Michigan  answered…7mos7MO

homeless shelters do not address the root causes of homelessness, the money should be spent on helping people get out of this situation.

  @KindredburkeLibertarian  from Michigan  answered…7mos7MO

Homeless shelters don't usually work the way they are intended, and leads to many not using them, we should be using the money for solving issues such as addiction, financial literacy and helping homeless children, elderly people and war vets.

 @9V3JBD5Libertarian from Colorado  answered…8mos8MO

the government would not be efficient with the funding and the money would not actually go to helping the homeless shelters. the non-profits & government benefit by the homeless issue being a never ending problem. they are incredibly corrupt and do not have American citizens best interest at heart.

 @jerry9310Libertarian from New York  answered…8mos8MO

No, but the government should increase funding for more drug/alcohol rehab centers and psychiatric hospitals. At least 80% of homeless people either have a drug/alcohol addiction or psychological issues.

 @9WYC83VLibertarian from Oregon  answered…7mos7MO

The government should stop over-regulating in ways that make it impossible for homeless people to have places to live.

 @9T8P9M8Libertarian from Iowa  answered…8mos8MO

If you want to support a state and require them to be at a percentage of helped and not returning to the streets. As the number increases provide more support. If programs fail reduce support.

 @9T8K2HMLibertarian from Illinois  answered…8mos8MO

Although I don’t like government funds in a lot of places, we would have to stop sending money overseas to focus on our housing problem, which is better

 @9T38W7MLibertarian from Delaware  answered…8mos8MO

Well, initially no. I don't think the Government needs to have their hands in everything. Organizations like churches should be taking care of their communities.

 @9L4Z23BIndependent  from Pennsylvania  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, the federal government should support initiatives but the responsibility lies with local and state governments

 @7S2PNCNIndependent  from Florida  answered…11mos11MO

Yes, as long as we simultaneously require those who live on our streets to be relocated to these facilities along with required mental health services to help them rehabilitate to functioning self sufficient members of society.

 @9MWL2BZLibertarian from California  answered…12mos12MO

 @9MS62CQLibertarian from Wisconsin  answered…12mos12MO

I want to say no but I find people don't have enough incentive to do the right thing & privately finance programs

 @9PQXLQ7Libertarian from Missouri  answered…11mos11MO

No, but the government should stop preventing private organization from trying to house the homeless.

 @cluskillzLibertarian from California  answered…12mos12MO

No, and remove barriers that prevent private charities from funding homeless shelters.

  @LucidLibertarianLibertarian  from Oregon  answered…12mos12MO

No, but State governments can decide how much funding is provided and under what circumstances.

 @9L4Z23BIndependent  from Pennsylvania  answered…10mos10MO
