Releasing more than 1:1 is a tragic mistake because it makes hostage taking more worthwhile

I still don’t get why they allow an enemy that is losing to have leverage, it should be the other way around.

Because the enemy is losing in military terms, while you are losing in public opinion terms.

If you were taken hostage, I would hope they would trade whoever for you.
