According to several sources in Israeli media and confirmed by discussions I have had, the IDF brass and some in the security services have changed their minds about how to handle the hostage issue in a few ways:
1) They are saying getting the hostages out militarily should be the primary focus of the operation.
2) They are encouraging the government to release as many prisoners as it takes to get the hostages back. They say they can handle the repercussions.
3) They believe it is time to start assassinating Hamas leadership abroad.
These changes are occurring for a few reasons:
1) The talks with Hamas are going nowhere.
2) An invasion of Rafah is not close and may not happen.
3) More hostages are dying, and evidence of significant sexual abuse is coming out.
So far, the strategy has not changed, but enough crucial decision-makers are thinking this way to warrant new approaches soon.

If you learned hostages were being sexually abused and dying, would this change your stance on how far your government should go to rescue them, including assassination of hostile leaders?
If you learn someone has been torture in such a way, it should motivate you to give them as much justice as possible. Although, you should already be trying as much as you can to help them.
@9LD4JSG2yrs2Y
They should do whatever necessary
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Is assassinating a leader of a hostile group abroad justified if it could potentially save lives, even if it escalates conflict?
@9LD6DCF2yrs2Y
It depends on the leader and their group.

I think the news topic should consider being a republic to realize about what a democratic president can do to this country. So I prefer being republican because I care about paying my taxes, buying things I need, afford buying a house, etc.
@9LD5T662yrs2Y
Its impossible to know the proper choice until one is made
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Would you support your government exchanging prisoners for the safe return of hostages, knowing those released could pose a future threat?
@9LD5HD2Republican2yrs2Y
Exchange of criminals shouldn’t be allowed
@9LD5CKM2yrs2Y
I generally support this but some types of prisoners such as assassins and spies should never be an option for exchange with civilians.
@AwedLeopardGreen2yrs2Y
Getting the hostages out at all costs, not invading rafah and allegedly handling the repercussions is a terrible idea, the exact type of thinking that led to October 7th. Let's hope this doesn't transpire.
@VenisonNickGreen2yrs2Y
The desperation is on ! Big mistakes are coming. Palestinians will definitely have a state
We've been trying to give them a state since 1948. They don't want one.
@VenisonNickGreen2yrs2Y
False. Palestinians want a state - but only one from the River the Sea, with 80% of its current inhabitants sent to the bottom of the Mediterranean or at best to Poland.
@ArdentAbaloneRepublican2yrs2Y
Releasing more than 1:1 is a tragic mistake because it makes hostage taking more worthwhile. I still don’t get why they allow an enemy that is losing to have leverage, it should be the other way around.
@WhitingBruceDemocrat2yrs2Y
Because the enemy is losing in military terms, while you are losing in public opinion terms.
If you were taken hostage, I would hope they would trade whoever for you.
If the invasion in Rafah isn't going to happen wouldn't Hamas just be able to rebuild its ranks? What happened to not partially putting out a fire?
Hamas obviously won't be able to re-take control of north Gaza if there is a fortified line of Israeli troops bisecting the strip, and cacking any "police" commanders that try to re-establish order like they've spent the past 6 weeks doing.
@CockyRuffsGreen2yrs2Y
Why doesn't Israel understand - just like Pals are not interested in some land for their state but only want the whole thing so it is with the prisoners, and on top of it, they only want those prisoners to show that Israel can be defeated, Hamas first priority is to survive
That's an excellent strategic shift. Assuming, of course, that your goal is to ensure a far bloodier conflict in the not-too-distant future.
Any other goal and it's a disaster.

What took so long with #3? Didn't understand why Israel allowed Haniyeh to travel the world, marry wife #7 like he doesn't have a care in the world.
