Hamas has pulled out of talks aimed at securing a cease-fire in Gaza, Egyptian officials said Thursday, after the group’s leadership hardened its bargaining position by requesting Israel’s commitment to discuss a permanent stop to the fighting.
Hamas hasn’t said how many hostages are still alive. Israel won’t accept Hamas’s demand to allow all Palestinians displaced in the south to freely return to the north. Israel doesn’t want to allow fighting-age men to be allowed to move freely. Hamas is demanding whole families to be allowed to go back.
Hamas’s leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, has been pushing the Islamist group to extract bigger concessions from Israel, according to officials familiar with the discussions. That has put him at odds with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the group’s Qatar-based political bureau, which has been leading talks with Qatari and Egyptian officials. Haniyeh has been willing to accept a six-week pause in the fighting to offer some relief to Gaza’s 2.3 million people, while using that time to explore the possibility of a permanent cease-fire and full Israeli military withdrawal.

Hamas has been asked to submit a list of the living hostages, but they've refused several times, which is why no Israeli negotiator is in Cairo. Hamas isn't fighting for the people of Gaza, they are fighting for their own survival, to resume where they left off on Oct. 8th. The sheer hypocrisy of blaming everything on Israel, while what Hamas does (and they do shoot people, not just steal aid) is totally overlooked, as if they don't exist in this war at all, is startling. It tells me that there is way more attention to the suffering, and yes especially children are suffering in Gaza, than just humanitarian concerns. Hamas cannot be spared.

You know what's truly startling? That people can watch the IDF inflict continuous pain, suffering and death on Palestinians and still attempt to blame Hamas. Israel is the one with the bombs and the one starving an entire population.
@JudiciaryLucyDemocrat2yrs2Y
Exactly. Release the hostages and the entire world would press for a cease-fire. Until then it's just Hamas whining.
Israel is in the process of completely defeating Hamas.
The Hamas political and military leadership must surrender to Israel, immediately and unconditionally.
That is the only way to minimize further death and destruction.
Hamas’ continued existence does not justify continuing the rampant systematic killing currently happening in Gaza. Israel could kill every living being in Gaza but that wouldn’t end Hamas. (Likely it would only create more terrorists).
Hamas is an ideology. Things like that cannot be defeated. Unfortunately Israel has now created more people in Gaza and outside of it that will forever hate Israel. It’s a classic example of the law of diminishing returns. The more they bomb and massacre civilian women, children and men the less respect people around the world have for them. This war will only create more pain for Israel and for the safety of Israelis and Jews for decades to come.

i feel like we should try to help
@9KNFHXX2yrs2Y
This is scary because this means that Hamas will continue to retaliate against Israel. Also, this is important because God will return to Israel, and also in the Bible it says pray for the peace of Israel.
@9KNCPBL2yrs2Y
I think that they should all come to peace
@9KNBJS32yrs2Y
This sucks and people are going to die.
