In 2022 September 2022 the U.S. Transportation Department approved electric vehicle charging station plans for all 50 states, Washington and Puerto Rico covering about 75,000 miles of highways. The November 2021 $1 trillion infrastructure bill provides $5 billion to help states install EV chargers along interstate highways over five years. Federal funds will cover 80% of EV charging costs, with private or state funds making up the balance. Proponents argue that electric vehicles reduce the use of fossil fuels, and the national network of charging stations will help drivers overcome “r…

Improving public transportation should be a priority, but encouraging electric vehicles should be above catering to gasoline run ones.
@9DTYMCG2yrs2Y
No just make the companies pay for them.
@9D6XKFF2yrs2Y
Yes, but focus more on improving public transportation and its range
@9B7Z2TM2yrs2Y
Yes, and focus more on improving public transportation.
@B365VJWIndependent3mos3MO
Only if they use renewable energy sources and include improvements on public transportation in the process. All private companies with government contracts will need to provide full fiscal transparency to the public since our taxes will be going towards their contracts.
@9ZQPHSH6mos6MO
No if companies want to build EV’s the need to make deals with energy companies to provide affordable and reliable support for their product.
@GallibondLibertarian 7mos7MO
Allow both public funding and private industry to build charging networks, and ensure they are all operating on one standard so any EV can charge at any station.
@9SKQQD7Republican9mos9MO
If it only makes up a small sector of the automobile market then I think not doing it is fine. Although, I think it could be a nice thing to do.
@9N2ZR8Q12mos12MO
No, we should be using vehicles that provide the most efficient transport as well as the least amount of harm on the environment
@9L5Q93B1yr1Y
No, Instead all electric vehicle charging stations should be standardized so all electric vehicles can access regardless of brand.
@9KLLSFBRepublican 1yr1Y
Yes but only powered with renewable energy and once the electric vehicle industry makes up for at least half of vehicles able to be used for ordinary people
@9K554BTLibertarian1yr1Y
No, EV charge stations are no different than gas stations, meaning they are all non gov owned companies that provide an energy resource. However the government should support their use of renewable energy sources otherwise it defeats the purpose of clean energy. eg Using solar panels to create energy for an EV station so it does not run of the coal or gas ran public grid again defeating the purpose of clean energy.
@9HSK5NS1yr1Y
No. This is not a role of government. It should be handled just like gas stations for internal combustion vehicles.
@9HSMSVL1yr1Y
No, we need to focus on improving our aging and obsolete infrastructure before putting such a high energy demand on it.
@9H5Q8YF1yr1Y
Electric cars are becoming more popular and more affordable, but that being said, there should be efforts on focusing on the improving of public transportation. But otherwise, yes.
@9FPCTTB2yrs2Y
No, our power grids cannot handle it. More gas cars.
@9FB526L2yrs2Y
No, provide subsidies to private renewable energy stations.
@9DZ8DW82yrs2Y
Many private gas station companies are expanding fueling stations with EV charging stations. I feel more tax subsidies and other incentives should be given to companies that provide the service where they are able, rather than the government controlling the placement of charging stations
@9DCSFQ2Independent2yrs2Y
No, electric energy transfer through batteries is inefficient and wastes more energy through heat in both transfers into and from the batteries. Batteries do not last long and generate a huge amount of waste in the form of dangerous heavy metals.
@9C9LBTV2yrs2Y
Yes, but also focus on improving public transportation
@9CMN9242yrs2Y
No. This is not good. A huge waste of energy and government dependence which we should not want to have
@9CVM58V2yrs2Y
Yes, only if it is deemed profitable.
@nikofiasco2yrs2Y
Yes, if they use renewable energy sources, and focus on improving public transportation as well.
@9C9Z7HC2yrs2Y
Yes but we should focus more on public transportation and more sustainable forms of transportation
@9BSTGZT2yrs2Y
The Government should build a large network of railways similar to those in Japan.
@99VNZ9F2yrs2Y
Have funding come from states
@cwsharpless2yrs2Y
Yes, but only once the plug design is fully standardized across all electric vehicle manufacturers
@99GGTYL2yrs2Y
No, this responsibility should fall upon the manufacturers of electric vehicles, rather than taxpayers.
@99GBD5Y2yrs2Y
Electric vehicles have issues
@99C94BB2yrs2Y
No, private companies should
@999RKZW2yrs2Y
No, private companies should build these charging stations
@997XKQC2yrs2Y
yes but public transit should be favored over private electric vehicles.
@9F4LJYN2yrs2Y
Yes, however it should be mandated to the states through specific grants.
@9D7LJ262yrs2Y
No, electric vehicles is a woke agenda to control who will drive cars
@9D6J8XT2yrs2Y
Yes, use of electric vehicles is growing more common so this is something people will need, BUT construction of such places should be done in best interest of private owned businesses, the landscape, and climate
