Other countries are required to learn English in school. We should also require a second language be learned from a young age if we expect others to learn English for OUR convenience. Otherwise it's not fair, Spanish is probably the second most popular language spoken in the world, along with Chinese.

No it shouldn't be. While we are mostly an English speaking country and it would be helpful for immigrants to learn English it shouldn't be a requirement to enter the country. They can have many opportunities to learn once they settle in

 @9BXYFXT from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

it shouldn't be required but also we should provide an opportunity to learn English for free.

 @9B7LP7Z from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

It could be challenging for them to make it in our nation if they do not know or learn English. It is up to the person to decide.

As a second generation immigrant here in the US, I believe that immigrants should learn to speak English. They are allowed to not do so but that does not mean that we need to compromise for them.

 @94B5XJC from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but it should be highly recommended to learn and free classes provided.

 @93D2YR7 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and being fluent in English should be required to get a green card.

 @92L2K2M from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but increase resources to learn English and offer more multilingual translations

Yes. It’s a problem when a Lyft/ Uber driver doesn’t speak English. Then their phone GPS loses signal. How am I supposed to give them directions?! This happens all the time in Orlando, FL.

 @8Z63X62 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No. It’d be nice, but I really don’t care. If they don’t speak English then we just won’t speak.

 @8ZRCX92 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No, not required but it would be nice if they learned. That way we can communicate better!

 @8Y66Q72 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes. However, only A-1 for those immigrating from underdeveloped countries or who are refugees as most that do not understand English are either from Latin America or are refugees. A-1 Spanish can be learned in about 30 hours of studying for an English speaker. Keeping immigrants at the border for a week or two will provide ample time for them to learn A-1 and then some. Furthermore, it is possible that volunteers could be found to teach some materials and even if not these facilities would be profitable in the long run do to tax revenue generated. As for once they are in the country they wil…  Read more

 @cwsharpless from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but the government should provide free language learning courses upon request

 @8MNMYZG from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but the government should offer free classes to the people who want to.

 @jmshirk21 from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes! But the classes should be provided for free but other languages should be removed from driving test and such

 @8CFWG7T from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but we must consider older people which it is very difficult for them to learn a new language

 @9CDMLJW from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes and so should the entire nation, but it should be traditional, 1828-style English in order to avoid modern interpolations and colloquial terms.

 @9BXCHQB from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

They're going to need to. Just as I would need to learn some Spanish if I moved to mexico.

 @999J7W6Libertarian from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but they should offer free courses for those who are willing to learn

 @999HX8D from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only because they should know english so they can get things they need and to communicate with people.

 @998KK46 from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

no, but the government should provide free language learning courses to motivate them to learn English

 @98RYR9M from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

 @97PRX42 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No. English is not our official language so we have no legal basis to require this.

 @8Z63X62 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

It’d be nice, but I really don’t care. If they don’t speak English then we just won’t speak.

 @8GW2JGQ from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, they should at some point understand English if coming to live in the US

 @8GMGFCV from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

I personally think that immigrants should only be able to speak English to live a comfortable life and understand but the government should provide free language learning courses also we should embrace the diversity in our country.
