No, but implement higher restrictions on them to protect consumers' privacy, and increase their tax rates.

 @7PTCG38Democrat from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, due to consistent violations of privacy data laws and manipulation of technology to prevent effective competition

The government should impose more regulations on these and other companies to ensure that monopolies are not formed.

 @9SL6PGT from Florida  answered…9mos9MO

No, but they should be heavily investigated and regulated for the consumers/citizens security and welfare in mind.

 @9QVYKVC from California  answered…10mos10MO

The government should 100% regulate their practices of collecting and selling personal user data to 3rd parties, and any other actions these big companies take to exploit their users.

 @9J87PRX from Iowa  answered…1yr1Y

No, but they need to be held accountable for their actions and policies. They also need to pay the appropriate taxes.

 @7PTCG38Democrat  from Wisconsin  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, due to their manipulation of technology to prevent effective competition and consistent violations of privacy data laws

 @zackrspv  from Colorado  answered…1yr1Y

No, however, the Government should break up industrial sectors where smaller companies are lacking in competitive capacity.

 @9FYY6XS from Wisconsin  answered…2yrs2Y

There should be more strict anti-trust laws. Multi-industry dominance should be more closely regulated.

 @9FW34ZHSocialist from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

They should regulate them closer and ensure they're not violating people's right to privacy/are treating their employees right, but not break them up

 @9FMHNGJ  from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes as long a careful investigation of the consequences and feasibility is undertaken first.

 @7PTCG38Democrat  from Wisconsin  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but adopt a set of rules to include a blacklist of unfair trade practices, required internal systems for each of these companies to handle complaints, and allowing smaller businesses to group together to sue any of these larger companies

 @7PTCG38Democrat from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, due to consistent violations of privacy data laws and manipulation of technology in order to prevent effective competition

 @8G8955GDemocrat from Colorado  answered…5yrs5Y

No, however they should be held more accountable for the state of our economy. The lack of circulation of money is large reason for poverty.

 @95TBL57 from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

They should be nationalized and maintained under a governmental arm. not for surveillance but rather to eliminate the profit motive. treat it as a public good

 @946GVDC from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZGQSLF from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZCT7N3 from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

No, the government shouldn’t, but they should place regulations on big corporations.

 @8Z43N9L from California  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but the government should break certain things that each of those companies do that aren't right such as very low wages and way too long working hours.

 @8YYTRWNSocialist from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

I do believe that these companies should break up into smaller companies, but only to different companies assigned for different countries. That way they aren't just one large company internationally, and can be more manageable.

 @36XJB2Vfrom California  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and both traditional media and social media should be required to be non-profit

 @8YGFBZ9Democrat from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XZYFW3 from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

Amazon shouldn't be as powerful as it is, Google is important and necessary, and Facebook should be broken up.

 @842VWLKProgressive from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Google, no. amazon and facebook? yes, because they're getting too big, and facebook/meta are data-collecting douces.

 @8XBKST9 from Utah  answered…4yrs4Y

 @GuitarLord25Progressive from Vermont  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, and internet and social media outlets should be free public utilities democratically controlled by workers. Monopolies of our social media and information allow for these companies to continue to maliciously buyout their competitors and to continually censor their users.

 @8T55336 from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

No, treat them like public spaces in which free speech is protected and form a government oversight board.

 @naomioniSocialist from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but they should also nationalize aspects of these companies as government utilities.

Some monopolies are important and should be heavily regulated rather than broken up. It would be better for the consumer to only have to subscribe to Amazon Prime than to have to subscribe to 5 or 6 similar programs

 @8S2WRWPWomen’s Equality from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but restrictions should be in place to limit the power of the platforms

I'd rather see Amazon and Google nationalized, but Facebook should be broken up since social media is a different beast altogether

 @8QJTXSZ from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

They should nationalize the social media to. And treat it like a legitimate news source so it falls within the restrictions.

Demonstrated by recent decisions by rich CEOs, one person can completely destroy a service that single-handedly provides an irreplaceable venue for public discourse and communication. So it's important that the people in charge of these services are working to serve its users and uphold the American tradition of civil engagement. It's for these reasons that internet and social media outlets should be free public utilities democratically controlled by workers.
