I think it depends on the area and the needs of that area. This might be something better decided on a local level?
@9TBQCFV9mos9MO
Anytime the government is involved it's all gonna go to waste, they'll spend your money wastefully while you spend it wisely.
@9SRBDV3 9mos9MO
I think that the states should make this decision and push it to the public. I personally would be willing to vote for it and pay for it within my state.
@9S8NZJT10mos10MO
Yes, but be determined by local leaders based on researched need. I hate seeing empty buses in my area driving around costing tax payers when their wasn't a real need.
@9NYVNVQIndependent12mos12MO
Yes, but this should be determined by state need. Increase requirements for public transportation access, but incentivize green energy transportation options in more rural areas where public transportation is inaccessible.
@9H87XN71yr1Y
I mean theirs lot of ways to get around nowadays and theirs a lot more stuff that the money can go into
@9GSGK9B 2yrs2Y
Yes, but only in areas where there is a high use of public transport, the solutions should also be environmentally friendly.
@9FL2SYH2yrs2Y
Probably not, it just isn't really possible given the US's size.
@9DPZM4X2yrs2Y
Transportation can be hard, especially for those who are trying to get to work so maybe in that purpose but I think we have enough ways to be transported. we should put money towards other more important situations.
@9D5DSQZ2yrs2Y
No. There should only be private transportation. If you have to steal money from your neighbor to travel, that travel is illegitimate.
@8KXG5T35yrs5Y
Regardless, this should be handled at the state level
@8DNBTVYLibertarian5yrs5Y
No, public transportation spending should be handled at the state and local level
@9BRRK2FRepublican2yrs2Y
probably not but I'm not super familiar with this topic
@96V6SG63yrs3Y
Yes, but it should be in partnership with competing private enterprises. Not state directed.
@95LWZGX3yrs3Y
Yes, but in a budget neutral way.
@93VQ5XM3yrs3Y
Just increasing the spending isn’t going to fix the public transportation issues, it’s also about car obsessions and cities not being built with public transport in mind
@93N7VM63yrs3Y
The public transit system should be the responsibility of the people, cheap solutions are within grasp
@92PSBMS3yrs3Y
The government shouldn't be apart of transportation, it should be state decision
@Apollo223yrs3Y
They should make public transportation free for everyone.
@8ZJDM4P3yrs3Y
Yes and provide cheaper public transportation, look at Japan as an example.
@8X5N8TZRepublican4yrs4Y
Yes, but only to update the existing system
@8WXQ7KC4yrs4Y
No, Because I think we need to put more funding into Infrastructure but I do agree with researching into more reasonable ways of transporting with there current funding
@8V24WSH4yrs4Y
Yes, in areas where people will use it.
@8TS3LM94yrs4Y
It should be handled by local government, not federal
@8TLG8VH4yrs4Y
Public transportation is a local issue.
@8SQDYH84yrs4Y
No, Leave this decision to the locals.
@neilflackLibertarian4yrs4Y
Leave a state to state choice to be voted on by the public
@8S8P4ZS4yrs4Y
Should be situational from state to state
@8RZYGXW4yrs4Y
Only if they can do so as part of a balanced budget.
@8RQRHF74yrs4Y
If data shows more people would use it.
@8QQKGHFIndependent4yrs4Y
Government shouldn’t be paying for it the users should.
@8QP3VXW4yrs4Y
If you can pay cash for it
@chickentaco5yrs5Y
It depends on the area you live in and how readily available transportation is in that area. I also think that they should find or promote more environmentally friendly public transportation.
@8NWMG2WRepublican5yrs5Y
If the increased funding goes towards safety and sanitation.
@8MXWQFV5yrs5Y
Let the individual states decide.
@8MT65X35yrs5Y
State government, but not federal
@8MQ7XGL5yrs5Y
No, but add taxes to them so that we may have a better country and lower taxes in other places
@8MP9Z685yrs5Y
it should be up to local and state
@8M4KL3NLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, in areas where it is being used.
@8L8Q6P35yrs5Y
This is a local issue, not a national issue.
@8KZNMC95yrs5Y
The state government should spend more in public transportation, but only in locations where public transportation will be frequently utilized, and where public transportation will reduce carbon emissions.
@8KYM7DZ5yrs5Y
Yes, but that the government provides more free transportation that is an eco-friendly solutions.
@8KJVJJW5yrs5Y
yes, but only as needed.
@8KFZTKS5yrs5Y
Gas tax- or something similar - should cover these expenses. Then those using these services are the ones paying for them.
@8KBWGKVConstitution5yrs5Y
No for federal government. Leave it to the states
@8KBD3XG5yrs5Y
Only in cities that need it. Too many cities are too small to need public transit and adding it just costs excess money and makes it even more difficult to travel.
@8K3MKGB5yrs5Y
I think we benefit from incentivizing it. It's hard to get past convenience of setting ones schedule
@8J9KBSG5yrs5Y
It should vary by local needs
@8J3GZCB5yrs5Y
Yes for local government agencies only.
@8HT7LFF5yrs5Y
Yes, only if was more oversight so there isn't over spending in areas not needed.
@8HSS8JD5yrs5Y
More free public transport and environmentally friendly options
@8HNBNLM5yrs5Y
Only if it is a viable option.
@8GKZBFC5yrs5Y
It depends on the situation and where
@8DGS7YF5yrs5Y
@8D2LD995yrs5Y
Should be on a state level
@8D2853M5yrs5Y
No, it should be a decision of the local and state governments.
@8CMBXDR5yrs5Y
No, unless offset by budget cuts elsewhere.
@8CBK2G95yrs5Y
No, I don't think that we need to go farther into debt.
@8CB4HCH5yrs5Y
depending on how much it's needed
@8C8S2335yrs5Y
Yes, as long as money is spent on solutions that will actually help speed up transportation, and benefit people as a whole.
should be done at a state level
@9BFFLTF2yrs2Y
Yes, but only if they are working on improving the transportation infrastructure that is already in place.
@9BCL8XX2yrs2Y
i dont use public transportation often so it isnt as important to me.
@9B853X92yrs2Y
Better infrastructure but not nessicarily public transport
@9B82JJC2yrs2Y
Funding for public transportation should only be increased if there is a proven need in a community and if the system will actually fill that need
@9B7CC38Republican2yrs2Y
Yes, but only if the funding is redirected from other government sources, and we can also guarantee that the money spent on transportation is actually used effectively.
@99TNHZX2yrs2Y
It's not really a big issue at the moment.
@99QN8G52yrs2Y
Get pulled by horse and carriage
@99MF6TVIndependent2yrs2Y
Depends on which projects, specifically.
@993D89Z2yrs2Y
Yes, Public transportation should be free, and they should put money towards more environmentally friendly solutions.
@98QLLTY2yrs2Y
Local governments have the authority to provide public transportation according to the votes of the people in that jurisdiction. The federal government only has the authority to construct interstates, under the military clause in the Constitution.
@98P9TVB2yrs2Y
Again it depends on location and situation.
@98P35FV2yrs2Y
No, we should consolidate our spending to be more effective with where we put our money. Some areas have good public transportation while some don't, learn from the good and put our money in areas that actually work.
@98P2Q5C2yrs2Y
Allow each state to decide on the quality of transportation within state boundaries
@98MGSHN2yrs2Y
No, we should better utilize the current funds
@98M6NPH2yrs2Y
Yes, but not increase the DOT funding
@98M545GRepublican2yrs2Y
Only if the spending is localized.
@98M22WJ2yrs2Y
specifically school bus transportation for low income public schools
@98L5NXJConstitution2yrs2Y
Roads and transportation infrastructure should be a state responsibility. We pay taxes and fees for our state to care for our roads. We do not need state and federal involved unless the state is not taking care of their responsibility.
@98BZMM52yrs2Y
Only if police enforcement with public transportation is increased as well.
@988KJBL2yrs2Y
No, until we have sustainable environmentally friendly energy sources, we cannot support environmentally friendly transportation
@986KVWK2yrs2Y
Yes, but they should have a limited budget.
@9827D4P2yrs2Y
Yes, and the spending should go towards environmentally friendly solutions. More free public transportation should be provided as well
@97WP6XX3yrs3Y
I don't really have much education on this subject and thus don't have a stance
@97K2MXP3yrs3Y
Yes and provide more free public transportation and also the cost should go to environmentally friendly solution.
@965GLRL3yrs3Y
They should only increase if necessary
@93VQ62T3yrs3Y
Cities should be planned and built around the possibility of using public transport—spending should increase as accessibility and desire to use public transport increase
@8ZHQRDT3yrs3Y
I think that if it needs the funding.
@8KFWKS65yrs5Y
Regardless of the level of spending on public transportation, it is a state issue per the 10th Amendment. In my state, I would opt to decrease the spending on public transportation.
@8J9QD2S5yrs5Y
No, public transportation should be left to the states
@8H79TSL5yrs5Y
Yes, but only in high population density areas
@8GWTJRV5yrs5Y
I only agree with it so long as they pay for and investigate high quality solutions. Don't be like California and talk to China rather than Japan when trying to build a bullet train that you never end up building.
@8FJFY6D5yrs5Y
Depending on the state and their situation
@8D94LSM5yrs5Y
Local governments should address this question for their constituency, not the federal government.
@8GZDPXWIndependent5yrs5Y
These are regional issues and should have economic, efficient, and reasonable solutions that meet the needs and have the approval of the localities.
@9GM4BFW2yrs2Y
Somewhat, with more free public transportation, yes, if the public transportation is controlled by a company that company should do the spending, not the government.
@9CG5QKWIndependence2yrs2Y
Yes, but the costs should shared between the federal and state governments.
