“A basic education must be treated as a human right and not as a political football. The common core is fine, in and of itself, and may help teachers reach that minimum in some cases; but, where the teaching is already decent, if teachers are unable to engage students at pivotal moments in the student's understanding, it will be to the teacher's, student's, and our society's detriment.”
