In July 2022 the Biden administration issued a draft plan to expand oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. The proposal from the Department of the Interior recommends holding up to 10 lease sales in the Gulf over the next five years, as well as one sale in the Cook Inlet off the coast of south-central Alaska. Under the 1953 Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, the federal government must plan for offshore oil and gas leasing on a five-year basis. The previous plan was finalized under President Barack Obama in 2016, went into effect in 2017, and expired in 2022. Opponents inclu…

Yes, but we should maintain and heavily penalize any incidents that happen in the wells and continue to incentivize more eco friendly energy production methods.
@B4QW2PV1mo1MO
Offshore drilling poses unacceptable risks to communities throughout the watershed, our economies, marine life, and our environment.
Offshore oil drilling should be concentrated in locations that maintain the local environment. Places of untouched wilderness such as Alaska should remain untouched.

I support alternative energy production that reduces damage done to nature but so much of the world right now is dependent on oil and gas for operation and so I think that we should work on implementing alternative energy production overtime and using what's necessary from oil and gas, even if it requires building more rigs at this moment in time.
@9GYSSL22yrs2Y
It depends on how independent we are from it. If we can, then I'd say no. But if we can't, then I'd say yes expand more. At least for now.
@LucidKarmaIndependent 2yrs2Y
Yes, but encourage companies to develop more environmentally friendly solutions in the meantime without financially incentivizing the private sector
@94F7FHK3yrs3Y
Yes but only if strict environmental regulations are followed and more money is invested in working towards alternatives
@944QNMB3yrs3Y
Allow individual owners to decide what to do with their claims.
@944F39V3yrs3Y
No, change to nuclear energy
@93TNN453yrs3Y
Yes, with very strict environmental regulations
@92RWN7ZLibertarian3yrs3Y
No, but expand oil drilling on US land.
@8Z79QFF3yrs3Y
No, but keep the option on the table.
No, the government should end all offshore oil drilling, provide more incentives for alternative energy production, and nationalize the energy sector
@8WT8WJH4yrs4Y
They can expand, but only if there are rigorous safety measures put into place to prevent Oil spills.
@LegalizeFreedom4yrs4Y
Yes, if someone wants to, they can as long as they don't hurt humans or animals
@8W4BP4L4yrs4Y
Yes, but only if safety regulations are met and there are people qualified is working on that.
@8VZZPLLIndependent4yrs4Y
yes but with regulations and concern to the environment and econ.
@reedsimmons4yrs4Y
yes, but increase safety standards and develop failsafe's to prevent spills.
Yes, but I think more research will be beneficial.
@8RS36QC4yrs4Y
Yes, but only after the reserves on land run dry, or run low.
@8RRXQK94yrs4Y
No but only expand offshore oil drilling when we are very very low of on shore oil
@8RPJRNZ4yrs4Y
No, but continue to expand reusable energy as an alternative
@8RP8HJD4yrs4Y
provide other alternatives for energy to keep our environment sustainable to live in.
@8RNYWQYIndependent4yrs4Y
Should be determined by demand of the market
@8R89QQV4yrs4Y
It is irrelevant because there has not been much recent activity in the drilling department and we should be able to have enough resources with what we have
@8QXL9BH4yrs4Y
Yes, but regulate how they operate so it’s best for for the environment.
maybe yes or no since Oil is rare to find anyways and it's too expensive for more driller
@8QWKS684yrs4Y
No opinion simply because both of the sides raise points to the point where i am neutral
@8QW66WS4yrs4Y
Reduce the amount off oil drilling in the ocean.
@8Q9NSX44yrs4Y
Yes as long as it doesn't affect the environment in a negative way
@8Q6Z8RJ4yrs4Y
The US shouldn’t control it
@8Q2Y3QZ4yrs4Y
No more drilling. just no. the artic is dying due to the cause of oil drilling, its killing the animals it also has an effect on climate change. leave the animals habitat alone.
@8PL85NV4yrs4Y
Yes but make it safe with frequent regulation checks.
@8PJQW594yrs4Y
Yes but keep a tight regulation
@8PDTGFG4yrs4Y
No, but maintain our current offshore oil wells. Repurpose them into historical landmarks and tourist destinations. This will keep tourists out of the city while increasing tourist destinations without intruding upon the landscape.
@8P8GT935yrs5Y
Only if necesary to maintain sufficient oil supply
@8LBLT5D5yrs5Y
Private businesses can expand.
@8KHGLGF5yrs5Y
I dont understand this question.
@8JH68LZ5yrs5Y
Yes, but in areas where there isn't lots of sea life.
@8HBMRD25yrs5Y
Continue but government regulation and enforce consequences for oil spills.
@8GZCT5B5yrs5Y
Yes but keep energy sector on a tight leash
@8FV7RV35yrs5Y
Yes but not so much that it will kill sea life.
@8F8L23F5yrs5Y
I honestly couldn't care less.
@8CT5WFT5yrs5Y
Yes, but in increase regulations to hold companies accountable
@996HTDQ2yrs2Y
This doesn’t apply to me I think
@98YWMKC2yrs2Y
I don't have enough information to have a stance
@98FHHGS2yrs2Y
No, end all offshore oil drilling, provide more incentives for alternative energy production, and nationalize the energy sector
@93ZWMNH3yrs3Y
No. End all offshore oil drilling, provide more incentives for alternative energy production, and nationalize the energy sector
@bazella3yrs3Y
No, they should start decreasing the amount of oil drilling internationally and nationally, and incentivise more environmentally friendly energy
No, but incentivize the use of nuclear energy.
@8XWZMZ93yrs3Y
Yes, as long as it won't harm any life.
@8KJ9FLMIndependent5yrs5Y
Don’t know what this means
@8JSYXYD5yrs5Y
I don't have much information on this subject, so I don't have an opinion.
@8GPXWPX5yrs5Y
No, look into Ford's H2ICE program just google it.
