Yes if they have spent more than 25 years since birth living in the US. AKA if the parents brought them in at 3, they are legal citizens at 28.

 @568W3MJLibertarian answered…11mos11MO

No, we should abolish Birthright Citizenship for everybody. Even children of US Citizens born in the US.

 @9WRJRCQLibertarian from Tennessee  answered…12mos12MO

No; I would’ve said yes if they were born here, but this has been abused. Need reform to the process.

 @9WR9VRWLibertarian from California  answered…12mos12MO

Yes, if they spent their whole life here. They didn’t get to choose where they were born. They are American.

 @9VCTJ85Libertarian from Georgia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if they contractually are obligated to serve 2 - 3 years in the military. This does not grant citizenship to parents, they must still apply.

 @9VCTG99Constitution from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

they should be given temporary citizenship while young but have to take the test after a certain age

 @9SLTBF4Constitution from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

it depends if they were born in the US and if so they should be granted citizenship but the parents need to apply for citizenship

 @9RQ9LN6Constitution from New York  answered…1yr1Y

I'm open to a pathway to citizenship for non-criminals involving public service work, paying taxes, etc for x period of time.

 @CurvyletterConstitution answered…1yr1Y

Yes, as children born in the U.S., regardless of their parents' immigration status, are recognized as citizens under the 14th Amendment

 @9KTFMH8Constitution from Delaware  answered…2yrs2Y

The problem with this is the dual citizenship the child is granted based on natural birth and parents nationality. This has too many complexities to the problem.

 @9KC893XLibertarian from Virgin Islands  answered…2yrs2Y

No, the more you incentivize people to disregard the legitimate legal policies and procedures which have be instituted to protect our country and its interests, the more harm you invite to our citizens.

 @9KBTHLZLibertarian from California  answered…2yrs2Y

my opinion is if they were brought here at a young age and grew up here they should be given the opportunity to apply for citizenship without the worry of being deported.

 @9K9HZ5SLibertarian from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

If they choose to be citizens, they and their children will be allowed to have rights in the country

 @9K5YTBCLibertarian from Oklahoma  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, Children no matter race or gender deserve the right to enter this country even if they werent born here because they were most likely forced here.

 @9K2KJCSLibertarian from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

yes, if their family is deceased or they were born in the u.s grant the parents citizenship aswell but if one goes through the prison system add +5 years and deportation in hopes of limiting drug and human trafficking.

 @9JKXSN9Constitution from West Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

No because anyone wishing to come to this country should do it legally. If it is allowed many expecting parents from other countries will try to come illegally to have their children.

 @9JKD4YZLibertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, if they were born here, but the legal process should be easier for citizens of neighboring county. Shouldn't have to pass test about American history...should be about modern cultural and legal need to knows.

 @9JHQV7JLibertarian from Nebraska  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but this is written into the text of the Fourteenth Amendment, and this would have to be overturned first (which I favor).

 @9J6ZG7GLibertarian from Tennessee  answered…2yrs2Y

I think the process for applying for citizenship is purposefully tedious, Therefore filltering out hardworking citizens while allowing the illegals to bypass the law.

 @9J6V3ZKConstitution from Vermont  answered…2yrs2Y

No, unless their parents gain citizenship. Then their children under 18 should also be declared citizens.

 @9HR9NF3Libertarian from Michigan  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only after the sky that border s secured, and they have gone through the proper process of becoming a naturalized citizen.

 @9HJXH9NConstitution  from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

The 14th amendment protects birthright citizenship, however it should be further amended to only allow birthright citizenship for those born to parents who are legally in the country.

 @9799PDBConstitution  from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but some caveat should be applied; perhaps something like only if they live here continuosly to age 12.

 @84ZWD6LLibertarian  from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, currently the 14th amendment grants this right. However, we should pass a new constitutional amendment disallowing birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants

 @9G3SZJWLibertarian from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Until they are of legal age, they should be allowed to be given the option to move back with their parents, or wait until they are legal age to apply for citizenship with the choice of that or getting deported, but until 18 they should be allowed to reside in the USA.

 @9G38RFVConstitution from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

I think anyone should be able to receive citizenship if they are willing to work and make our country better like any born citizen should do.

 @9FSCQCHLibertarian from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but they must formally apply, and we shouldn't deport them if they were already born here and their lives are here.

 @9FQNDHRConstitution from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

If the nation the parents immigrate from are not under the laws and jurisdiction of the United States, then birthright citizenship should not apply as per the 14th Amendment

 @9FBN8CWLibertarian  from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but not to their parents. Their parents should only be able to earn the Vite ship by either graduating college, or being in the US military for 4 years.

 @84ZWD6LLibertarian  from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

No, currently the 14th amendment grants this right, however, we should pass a new constitutional amendment disallowing birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants

 @9F73LDBLibertarian from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @84ZWD6LLibertarian  from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, the 14th amendment grants this right. However, we should pass a new constitutional amendment disallowing birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants

 @8ZC4MLMLibertarian from Minnesota  answered…4yrs4Y

If both parents are not from the United States, then no. If one is, then yes.

 @9X7S3Y7Libertarian from Maryland  answered…11mos11MO

They should apply for citizenship but all people applying for citizenship should have an easy access to it because it takes a long time to become a citizen so the government should make it easier to become a citizen.

 @93FVRVQLibertarianfrom Maine  answered…3yrs3Y

 @7MG7ZB2Libertarian from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and their parents should gain citizenship as wellto prevent separation.

 @937B6P8Libertarian from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and due to the fact that baby can not determine which family it belongs to

 @92LM5S5Libertarian from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

Children of illegal immigrants who were born here should be granted citizenship, their illegal immigrant parents should be granted deportation immunity for up to 12 years and if after those 12 years they have not achieved citizenship their child may lose citizenship and the parents will lose their immunity.

 @8YDCVCGConstitution from Colorado  answered…4yrs4Y

Perhaps we could have a separate, formal application process for minors under the age of thirteen in which they are placed with guardians, and are required to complete some form of community service, or enlist in the military.

 @8XRWTQZLibertarian from Arkansas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, children should have an opportunity just as much as every other child. It is not their fault that their parents are illegal and had to make choices they had no say in.

 @8WXMM3JLibertarian from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if at least one parent is in the states legally. If both parents are illegal, then the child should be considered illegal, too, even if born in the states.

 @Darktrooper007Libertarian from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only after they complete the formal citizenship application process.

 @8W5KMNBLibertarian from New Mexico  answered…4yrs4Y

 @84ZWD6LLibertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V3T648Libertarian from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

No. And eliminate citizenship for being born on US soil. Citizenship should require at least 1 US parent, and being in US territory is irrelevant.

 @8TQ4F7HLibertarian from Massachusetts  answered…4yrs4Y

If they were born here, or if they complete military service, or graduate college.

 @8TLDMVPLibertarian from Ohio  answered…4yrs4Y

No, illegal immigrants should be let in, but they should have a lengthier path to citizenship to incentivize more legal immigration, and the children of illegal immigrants should have the same path to citizenship as any other immigrant

 @8TKCRBZLibertarian from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but there needs to be a pathway to legally do so. Otherwise it will incentivize people to not do it the right way

 @8TDHWGQLibertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…4yrs4Y

 @84ZWD6LLibertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…4yrs4Y

No and create a new constitutional amendment that specifies only children of legal immigrants should be granted legal citizenship

 @8SXMXB7Constitution from Colorado  answered…4yrs4Y

No, only free white persons of good moral character should be permitted citizenship as per the Naturalization Act of 1790.

 @8SL3X97Constitution from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

It is not a good idea for it to just be the children because then it creates a situation for separation to happen. It is unfortunate that other nearby countries have bad situations that make families extremely desperate to escape. Natural born citizenship should only be given to children whose parents are citizens, or long term residents.

 @8SBZKPBConstitution from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if they were born on US soil. The parents shouldn't be given citizenship though.

 @8RH5MGSLibertarian from Nebraska  answered…5yrs5Y

If both parents are illegal residents, then the birth of the child within the country should not make them a citizen.

 @8RCNY3WLibertarian from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Laws making immigration illegal should be eliminated. And anyone born in the US should automatically be a citizen.

 @ORYGUNGUYLibertarianfrom Oregon  answered…5yrs5Y

No, they must formally apply like every other new citizen but they should be investigated to make sure they are not the victims of human traffickers.

 @8R5LD5WConstitution from Oklahoma  answered…5yrs5Y

Only if they are asylum seekers. Illegal immigrants should be a case by case basis.

 @8R56R3VLibertarian from Maine  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if they were born here and their parents should not be granted citizenship based solely on this fact if they are illegal immigrants.

 @8R565J3Libertarian from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but there should be a pathway to citizenship if they were born here, or came here at a very young age ie: less than 3 years.

 @8R282RFLibertarian from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if they were born her and should allow one family member to stay with them instead of be deported

 @8QW6QZZLibertarian from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

If they are born here, yes, they should be granted United states citizenship, however, their parents must work towards formally applying like every other new citizen.

 @8QTZLJ7Libertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but the parent may not have citizenship and they must be born on U.S soil

 @8QTT84FTaxpayers from Michigan  answered…5yrs5Y

The child, if born here can be a citizen, but the parents should not automatically become a citizen as well. They should still be required to go through the process of acquiring a citizenship

 @8QR3WDCLibertarian from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

The United States is the only first world country that recognizes chain migration, in this sense. This practice is untenable in two primary ways. First, the literature suggests this practice is unsustainable (from a Libertarian perspective); secondly, the literature demonstrates that chain migration increases Balkanization, which in turn will not benefit a Libertarian America.

 @8QQ6ZTWLibertarian from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

Sure, why not? Like membership in any other club, or subscription to a publication, Optional. However, though oaths of allegiance are repugnant, there can be a case for declaration of intent, like the "non-aggression" pledge signed when joining the Libertarian party.

 @8QPDRH7Libertarian from Iowa  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, Partly, If the Illegal Immigrant's child born in the U.S. they should have dual citizenship, and officials have decided that the child (Born in the US or not) will be adopted by an American family in order for a better life, with consent of the parents, then that child should also be given dual citizenship.

 @8QHZK3LLibertarian from Nevada  answered…5yrs5Y

Too lengthy to discuss, I don't think my write-in answers count regardless.

 @8QGYVCSLibertarian from New York  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but they should be required to have an official birth certificate as proof and it should not grant the parents citizenship.

 @8Q8N32MLibertarian from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Previous DACA children should be allowed to keep citizenship, but there needs to be a cutoff at some point in the future.

 @8Q65THCConstitution from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

Illegal aliens are not under the jurisdiction of our government so they should not receive citizenship status

 @8PWSV24Constitution from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

If the parents are not legal they are not under our governments jurisdiction and should not be given citizenship. Same should apply to tourist who are here to have a child.

 @8PV9CHYConstitution from North Dakota  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if they were born here, however it should not grant the parents citizenship

 @8PSWZ4LLibertarian from Utah  answered…5yrs5Y

No but we should make applying for citizenship more affordable and accessible

 @8PHF5GRConstitution from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

If illegal then they should be deported and not come back until they agree to go with the process and become legal citizens

 @8P6537RLibertarianfrom Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8KYYJM6Libertarian from Ohio  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8KNLTFJLibertarian from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

A child should be granted US citizenship only if at least one parent is a US Citizen.

 @8KM79QNLibertarian from Colorado  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes if they were born here AND it does NOT grant their parents citizenship.

 @8HMTMS8Libertarianfrom Pennsylvania  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8H722QVLibertarian from New York  answered…5yrs5Y

Children born in the USA should be given a formal application unique to this situation

 @8GX4PSFConstitution from Utah  answered…5yrs5Y

Children should be given the choice to stay with their parents and be deported, or separate from their parents and become a citizen; the children should not suffer for the unlawful actions of their parents.

 @8GN9NKPLibertarian from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but their parents should also be granted citizen ship if they agree to formally complete the course to be a member.
