This is exactly why we need to break up these corporate giants instead of letting them get even bigger

Every time there's another airline merger, regular people end up with fewer choices and higher prices, while CEOs walk away with fat bonuses. The fact that United even thinks they can pitch a merger with American—after years of nickel-and-diming passengers—shows just how little accountability there is in this industry. The government should be stepping in to protect workers and travelers, not just rubber-stamping whatever Wall Street dreams up next. Instead of more consolidation, we should be talking about public options for air travel or at least seriously regulating these companies. Letting a handful of mega-corporations control the skies is the opposite of democracy—it's just corporate greed running wild.
