What is your stance on abortion?
Pro-life, but allow in cases of rape, incest, or danger to the mother or child
Abortion is not medical care, it is ending a human life before it even has a chance to begin. With Birth control, Abstinence and morning after pill. Avoiding pregnancy should be a priority. We have a responsibility to protect unborn babies. They are not cells, but a developing human being. Abortion is not birth control. Its a serious decision that has serious consequences for all involved. Mental, Emotional and physical. The only time I feel an Abortion may be performed is in Incest, sex assault, or life of mother is in Jeopardy if she carries to term. This is a small percent. Otherwise , I Do not support abortion.
Here are the top political news stories for today.
I think abortion is a very private matter and right, and it is not up to anyone but the woman when it comes to what she wants to do with her body. If she is not in the position to bring a child into this world, then why should she be forced to? The adoption system is already extremely flawed, and why should we as a people put more families and children into that system when the entire situation can be prevented with abortion if the woman is not fit to be a mother. As much as someone believes that a newly formed baby is a life when it is merely a clump of cells until further along in the pregnancy, it is not and it is up to the woman to decide what she wishes to do with her body. The baby can't feel it, it's not conscious.
@BB6R3XC4mos4MO
I strongly agree with this statement because who's the government to determine whether a baby is born or not? They aren't the one carrying the baby for 9 months neither are the the one having to breastfeed and take care of it after it is born. It is quite irrational for others to believe they have the rights over the body of a woman and we also need to consider the fact that the 'baby' that's being aborted is a chunk of cell and can't feel any sort of pain nor feelings.
Abortion IS healthcare. It can save mothers from dying or if a mother is known to miscarry it can save them from having more miscarriages. Especially in cases of rape, incest, or sexual assault. 50% of rape pregnancies are terminated. Even if a minor gets pregnant willingly, they should have access to abortion. Schools should provide more ways to teach teenagers about this to avoid teen pregnancy, but even if it is willing, most teens are confused or aren’t knowledgeable on safe sex, and should be taught. Even if willing, if a mother cant provide for her child, she should have a right… Read more

It is a woman's choice what she wants to do with HER body. If she cannot properly support or care for her child then it is her choice if she doesn't want to have a baby. Sometimes accidents happen and forms of birth control don't work and other measures need to take place. The baby growing doesn't fully develop until roughly 6 weeks and I believe a woman should be able to get an abortion before that 6 week period. Especially in instances of incest, sexual assault, or if the mothers life is in danger. I understand that for some people it goes against their religion and beliefs but what happens in someone else's life is their own matter to handle.
@BB4XQ8YProgressive4mos4MO
I think that a woman’s body is hers and hers alone. I believe that no one other than the woman making the choice can know or understand what circumstances are involved in the decision making process. In those instances I do believe that avoiding a pregnancy was already her priority but accidents happen. Republicans want to have an overall ban so that all these women are forced to give birth to unwanted babiies. When there are more babies than can be adopted or are wanted to be adopted, what then? When these women need welfare, food benefits and the like Republicans want nothing to do with these women and children then.
@BB6QS4ZWomen’s Equality4mos4MO
They are scientifically a clump of cells and it should be a women's right to her own autonomy. If someone doesn't want parasite inside of them for 9 months, they shouldn't have to continue the pregnancy. If you force women into having children, those children could most likely live a poverty and unhappy life.
@BB54HW34mos4MO
Abortion is healthcare regardless of the circumstance. People are people and people are dumb, mistakes happen, I believe ALL women should be given the opportunity to choose whether to continue to nurture a future life or not, I do believe that after a certain point when the fetus is around 20-24 weeks, then abortion can be debated because the fetus is so far along (unless there is health issues/ complications with birth) otherwise, I believe abortion should be up to the woman. She's going through it, she should be able to make her own decisions with her body safely (again regardless of what happened).
@BDH22SL 1mo1MO
If a woman does not want a child, do you think that when that child is born, it will be loved? Will it be cared for? Will it grow up with a good life and have a good future? If a woman, does not want a child, it means she is not ready or does not want to be a mother in that case, meaning she is not a suitable parent.
The embryo or foetus doesn't even realise it's being eliminated, it has no consciousness, no pain, it literally IS a clump of cells, with the tools and genes to become a human, that is forming into a human, but isn't there yet. Accidental and unwanted pregnancies will continue to happen, no birth control method is ever 100% effective. And people aren't just getting abortions willy-nilly, it's not exactly a pleasant experience you'd want to continuously return to. It's an extremely hard decision in most cases as well, a mentally scarring one.
@BDJR7581mo1MO
I agree, abortion is not birth control, it is a serious decision. However, limiting or eliminating access to abortions doesn't stop abortions, it only makes them more dangerous. If a mother is not able to proper provide for her child, abortion should be an option. This includes but is not limited to teen/child pregnancy, poverty, and familial situation.
@BB6PQDL4mos4MO
If birth is forced, then there should be far better options and more government funding for childcare and care after the baby has been born. If the mother intends to have an abortion for financial reasons and ends up having to carry that baby to term, and then being unable to feed it and having very few other options, that is just as bad if not worse.
Abortion must be within the choice and decision of the woman because it is her own body. We cannot just focus on "avoiding pregnancy" because it is one of the nature of a woman to bear a child. If the mother does not feel secure raising a child and would like to resort to abortion, then it is best to honor that option because it is most likely that the child will only suffer more surviving in the real world.
@BB77P3Y4mos4MO
I think women should have the right to be able to have abortion. If it gets banned, she will then turn towards getting a nonsafe abortion which could end her life. Women should be entitled to choose since it is their body their choice. Why have the child when she then can't afford it and it will just end up in foster living a sadder life. No one willing to adopt. It takes time and its a process. This is the mother being responsible.
@BB6S2HBPeace and Freedom4mos4MO
I feel that all of those situations are the primary reason we see people get an abortion. I feel we should make things such as birth control and condoms more available to those who need it since many people cannot afford such things. I rarely see a situation where an abortion takes the place of birth control, and I believe many people have taken single stories such as that and summed it up to that being all abortion is.

I think that whoever is carrying the baby should have a choice, and abortions are not plausible past a certain amount of weeks in the term, so until then the fetus is NOT a fully grown and developed baby. I agree that absolutely in situations of sexual assault, incest, and the life of the mother is in jeopardy, but also consider financial instability, parents with severe mental illness, or someone who is incapable of taking care of a child, why bring a child into an unfortunate and unstable situation. And not all adoption situations are good, there are plenty of kids who get amazing families, but what about the ones who don't.
We do not have a responsibility to protect unborn children MORE than we have the responsibility to protect the mothers at risk, the families at risk, and the other children in this familial situations. I fully believe there are FAR more important things to worry about, that will be hindered if bans are focused on abortion instead of other things.

Though an unborn baby is still potential human life, giving birth can negatively impact the mother in a mental, emotional and physical state. Having children is also a financial burden. The mother may not be able to support the child properly, leading the child to not be fit for society later in life. It's the mother's right to choose to have an abortion because she is the one giving birth, not the government. Additionally, abortion should not be abused and should still be avoided by the government providing more birth control.
@BB4SQ4L4mos4MO
@BB5PQTZ4mos4MO
While that is a good statement, victims that were forced to get pregnant due to things like rape and incest, should have the right to abort the baby. They didn't agree to get pregnant, not on their terms, they were FORCED against their will. Another case in which abortion should step in is if the mother or baby have a chance of losing their life in the process.
@BB77D22Peace and Freedom4mos4MO
The thing is you should not get a vote on whether you support it or not if it is not your body or situation. The one carrying the fetus is the only one who is allowed to make the decision at the end of that day. If they chose to not be careful or if everything had failed it is THEIR choice. It is THAT PERSONS choice whether or not they are ready or not to bring a child into this world. It is better to not bring them into this world than to leave them in the system having a horrible “life,” not knowing any love. No one should get a say in another person's life.

Abortion is often a medical necessity. With rampant medical misogyny in modern medical care, many, if not most, medical professionals may not authorize abortion until it is too late. Additionally, no prevention method will work 100% of the time. When pregnancy happens despite a couple's best efforts, they should still be allowed to avoid the immense burden on time and money that having a child creates.

Abortion is not a last resort. It is up to whoever is carrying the baby. If a baby doesnt have a fully developed body, it simply cannot survive on its own. If a baby cannot funcion outside of a fetus, no one shoud believe that its up to the baby, becuase the baby has no idea whats going on. It should completely be up to the mother because the mom is carrying, and giving the baby nutrition as well.
