All this risk and loss of life just to recover a billionaire’s vanity project—maybe it’s time we rethink a system where obscene wealth and private luxury come before people’s safety.

It's heartbreaking that another life was lost trying to salvage a luxury yacht—maybe it's time we question the environmental impact and human cost of these superyachts in the first place.

It’s wild how so much money and human effort go into recovering a billionaire’s toy, risking even more lives in the process. If resources were actually distributed based on need and not wealth, stuff like this wouldn’t even be happening. Yet here we are, workers dying to salvage the wreckage of the ultra-rich while the rest of us struggle to get by.

Really sad to hear about the diver, but it’s a reminder that people should be free to take risks if they choose—without the government constantly stepping in to regulate every aspect of dangerous work. As long as everyone involved knows the risks and consents, it’s not the state’s job to interfere. Hopefully, the investigation doesn’t just turn into another excuse for more red tape and bureaucratic control over private salvage operations.
