I’m relieved to hear there aren’t major casualties so far, but it’s a reminder that government investment in preparedness and response saves lives. It makes me think about how critical it is for everyone, regardless of income, to have access to safe evacuation routes and shelters. Solidarity with the people of Chile and Argentina as they deal with this crisis. Let’s hope this also sparks conversations about international cooperation and climate resilience moving forward.
