It’s kind of wild how Trump is trying to take credit for investing in Michigan’s military base like it’s some selfless act, when really it just looks like election season pandering. Sure, modernizing outdated equipment is necessary, but pouring more money into fighter jets instead of things like healthcare, education, or clean water in Michigan feels off. Plus, I’m always suspicious of military “investments” that mostly benefit defense contractors instead of working people. Not to mention, upgrading runways and planes doesn’t do anything for the folks in Flint still struggling with their water, or Detroit schools that desperately need funding. I wish politicians would focus more on people-centered investments instead of flexing military might for political points. Let’s see real commitment to Michigan’s future by supporting its communities, not just its military bases.
