Facts are facts; analysis, however, is subjective. Teaching Critical Race Theory, and Critical Gender Theory, and other postmodern/New Left analyses of various issues, is instructing students in subjective opinion. It is no different than teaching one religion's perspective on existence as objective truth. It is not objectively true that the US carceral system is 'basically just modern-day slavery'; that is Michelle Alexander's interpretation of it. If I believe that the Myers-Briggs personality type classification accurately explains all human variation, does that mean it should be taught as the one theoretical framework to understand human behavior? If we're going to teach Critical Race Theory, we must also teach the works of Thomas Sowell and Coleman Hughes. Anyone who says otherwise wishes to shoehorn an ideology in the classroom.
