It's great to see Alaska taking a step like this to officially recognize Women's History Month — it's long overdue

Celebrating the contributions of women, especially those who’ve been historically overlooked, is essential for building a more inclusive and just society. As someone who believes in social democracy, I think this kind of recognition needs to go hand-in-hand with real policy changes that support gender equality — like pay equity, affordable childcare, and stronger workplace protections. Symbolic gestures are important, but they should be the beginning, not the end. I’m glad to see bipartisan support here; it shows that some issues really should transcend party lines. Hopefully, the governor signs it without hesitation. And hopefully, this momentum leads to more concrete action down the road.
