This is exactly why Western nations need to rethink their approach to African geopolitics

Rwanda is making calculated moves to defend its interests, and Belgium trying to exert influence just reeks of outdated neocolonial attitudes. Instead of sanctions and diplomatic posturing, the EU should focus on economic incentives and trade partnerships to encourage stability. Isolation and punitive measures rarely work—growth and investment do. If the West wants influence in Africa, it needs to offer something better than just criticism.
