Actually you can cancel debt

Paying with taxpayer cash is one way but you can also just force the creditors to take a loss if you prefer that.

That’s not what they are proposing, you know that, so stop answering a made up scenario.

They can force universities, hospitals and insurance companies to eat the cost but they won’t. The debt is proposed to be ‘transferred’ to tax payers.
