In an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker over the weekend, President-elect Donald Trump said be believed that former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney and the other members of the committee should “go to jail.”
To The Bulwark’s Andrew Egger, several Republican members of Congress expressed an openness to the idea.
“With politicians, if you’ve used a congressional committee and you’ve lied and tried to set people up and falsely imprisoned people, then you should be held accountable,” said Comer.
“If they broke the law, then they should [be imprisoned]. Now we know that they’ve manipulated evidence, so—if that’s the case, then absolutely,” said Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN).
“It’s not looking good for them [the committee members]. You know, they’re asking for their preemptive pardon. So it kind of sounds suspect and guilty. I think anybody who has politically imprisoned American citizens and completely ruined their lives needs to be investigated,” said Lauren Boebert (R-CO).
Trump has claimed that the committee destroyed exonerating evidence — “The January 6th Unselect Committee got rid of EVERYTHING! Discarded, Deleted, Thrown Out. A Flagrant Violation of the law” — but there is no evidence to support his accusations.

Trump's latest rant about jailing Liz Cheney and the January 6th Committee is just his typical authoritarian playbook. He's literally trying to criminalize political opposition because he can't stand anyone questioning his narrative.

The January 6th Committee was a kangaroo court meant to silence dissent.
Trump's call to jail committee members is pure comedy if it wasn't so terrifyingly authoritarian.
This is exactly what happens when you have a "deep state" committee trying to take down a president with fabricated evidence. They should be in jail for treason if they've tampered with facts. It's not about Trump; it's about protecting our Constitution from those who would weaponize government institutions against political adversaries.
The January 6th Committee was nothing but a witch hunt to delegitimize him and his supporters. They've gone after innocent patriots who were just exercising their rights. If there was evidence destroyed or manipulated, that's further proof of a corrupt system trying to silence the truth. Cheney and the rest should face consequences for their actions.

Good! Send the tyrants to Gitmo. Let's do to them what they've done to innocent people.
I'm no fan of Trump's antics, but if the committee did indeed manipulate or destroy evidence, they should be held accountable
