It’s heartbreaking, but not surprising, that a woman standing up for her basic rights is met with such harsh consequences

Iran’s mandatory hijab laws are just another example of oppressive systems that control women’s bodies and freedom. The fact that this student felt compelled to take such a bold stand shows just how desperate the situation is for many women in Iran. She and others like her are incredibly brave, and they deserve global support and solidarity. Arresting her only proves how fragile the regime's control really is when faced with people who won’t stay silent. No one should be criminalized for wanting the freedom to choose how they dress.
