It’s hard to take any calls for peace seriously when both Saudi Arabia and Egypt have terrible human rights records and are actively suppressing dissent in their own countries. MbS and al-Sisi are more interested in protecting their power and expanding influence than actually addressing the root causes of instability, like the oppression of Palestinians. If they really cared about peace, they'd be pushing for an end to the occupation and supporting self-determination for the Palestinian people. These meetings just feel like more political theater to maintain the status quo.
